FTM fail after 19" upgrade

So I upgraded my 16" stock RFT with a set of 19" MRR GT1 in kumho 235/35/19s and after driving on them for about 30 minutes my FTM warning light came on. After I got home I put it in park, scrolled to the FTM via BC button and held it until I got a check mark and the light turned off. In the morning I will drive around and see if it comes back.

In the meantime, Why did this light come on? The tire guy told me my stock tires didn't have sensors on them and he used some valve stems he uses in his shop, and I called BMW and asked them about my model/year car and they told me that I don't have equipped TMPS in my car. But if I didn't have them why would I have the option on the onboard computer? Thanks in advance

You're fine. You're supposed to reset the ftm when you get new wheels or tires. Ftm is based on rotation speed and the new wheels will set it off. Tpms came equipped on 2007 and later models.

Deanmc,

I got a "red" FTM warning and a chime on my 2006 325xi yesterday. I checked my tires and the presure was at 35 psi as I set them.

I tried resetting the FTM by holding the button in while in the FTM initiation mode. It seemed to reset but I still get the FTM warning.

Do you think that I may have lost one of my speed sensor? If so, why doesn't the ABS warning come ON?

Resetting FTM on 2006 not addressed in Owners Manual

I found another post that explained how to correctly reset the FTM warning on a 2006 E90. I was successful in clearing my warning. I think that my initial problem was that one of my tires was 2psi lower than the other three; still over 35psi. seems quite sensitive if you ask me.

This procedure that is not discussed in the Owners Manual! Shame on BMW.
