Question PROceed - Silly Questions????

Hi,

Couple of silly (potentially) questions regarding the above.

1) When loading New Maps

Should the car be running or off?
Should I keep the key fob away from the car like the install?
What happens if you get a comms error mid-way through the loading, does this screw up the unit & cause errors?

2) When installing the bypass plugs

I assume you need to keep the keyfob away from the car, like the reverse of the install?
Do you have to disconnect the power &/or earth?
I assume this returns the car to stock, does it take some time to 'learn' like how it takes some time for the PROceed to fully kick in?

3) When doing a dyno

Do I ask for corrected or uncorrected graphs?
2000 RPM in 4th then floor it was the advise given to Capt'n OZ, I assume this is correct?

4) Serial Connector

I assume it's okay to run the serial cable into the glove box so I can plug the laptop into it and therefore log what's going on? Any negative effects of leaving a perminent cable attached?

As mentioned above sorry for the dumb arse questions.

Regards,

S

With maps, you can do it whenever... the PROcede is always powered up, no need to do anything special... personally, I would do it with the car off.

Personally, I would disconnect the battery when unplugging any wires in the ECU, because if the ECU happens to wake up while your moving wires or installing plugs... your hosed with codes.

Ask for both corrected and uncorrected graphs... its a simple right click in the software to view the run either way... so ask for both... also make sure to include the run conditions, or ask for the DRF files(bring a thumbdrive), then you can use the free winpep viewer software, and change the correction yourself since all the run data is in the drf file(http://www.dynojet.com/downloads/software.aspx)

If your car is a steptronic, make sure you fully disable DTC (hold button for 5 seconds) BEFORE you let the rear wheels roll, at all... or else the tranny goes into fault mode. Also make sure you only floor it down to the first detent... dont push the kickdown button under the pedal, and of course use M mode to select the gear.

If you have an MT, just throw it in 4th and floor it. You can start your run as low as 1400rpms if you want.

Many people run a permanent serial/usb cable... see this thread

Hope this helps,
