Suggestions for low-priced wheels/tires for track

What's the best setup I can run with my 335i sport coupe for the track?

I'm guessing best to go with a square setup .. just not sure what exactly to look for in terms of size / diamiter and so on..

Any help is appreciated

Many use 17" wheels with 225/45R17 tires to get a lighter weight setup and better prices on the tires. In particular, the Kosei K1 Racing is popular due to its price, low weight, and durability.

Alternately, I see some using 18" setups with 225/40R18 or 235/40R18 all around.

It depends on the wheel...not all 17s will fit, but some definitely do.

Check out the Kosei K1, as mentioned, as well as the Apex Arc-8, etc.

You should look into some Forgestar F14s if you want a lightweight 18'' setup:

What are the pros and cons of the Forgestar F14's Vs. the Apex ones?

Go with the apex- and I chose the 17's- they still look great and the tires are so much cheaper. The arc-8 17's will clear whatever you have.

Are you sure? An Apex Rep told me that its better to go with the 18's...

Can you recommend an offset for me based on the car? I'd like to get a square setup maybe 245 or 255/17 all around... Let me know pls

I'm not sure who recommended you to go with the 18" wheels over 17" wheels for track use, as the 18" ARC-8s are purely a cosmetic upgrade in comparison to the 17" ARC-8s. The 17x9.0" ET30 is the perfect wheel for those that are looking for a dedicated track wheel that will save on consumables, especially since 17" tires are much more budget friendly than the 18" versions of the same width tires. The 17x9.0" ET30 with the 245/40/17 setup would be a great setup for those that do not have camber plates or aftermarket suspension, or do not have a dedicated track setup. These are one of the most popular setups for the e9x non-M for dual duty and street use. The wheels sit very flush to the fender, and does not require any additional modifications for the tires to clear as long as you are using a street tire. Extreme summer tires or R-compounds may give you trouble when you are lowered, but at stock height they should be okay.

Another track wheel option would be the 17x9.5" ET35 ARC-8, but this one will require some work for the wheels to fit properly. The advantage of the 17X9.5 ARC-8 easily supports a 255/40/17 R-compound tire. The 255 R-compound runs much wider than the stock 255 tires and this wider wheel was designed to provide the needed sidewall support. The additional support stiffens the sidewall and with less flex the tire will resist rolling over during hard cornering. This all results in sharper handling, better tire life, and a little more fun on the track! With the wide track tires a 5mm wheel spacer is required in the front to clear the strut, and about -2.8 degrees of camber for the fronts to not rub onto the fenders.

Now that you made the less important, but correct decision on what size wheels to buy...
What are you looking for in a tire? Track only R-compounds? Street + track "long lasting" extreme performance street tires? etc...
