Passenger seat airbag sensor

Every time now I'm getting a error code for the passenger seat airbag. It dings when I first turn on the car and randomly while driving. It's very inconsistent. Is this a common problem for 06 330i?

I'm ready to mute it! Dose anyone know what's causing it? I figured it's in the seat but I thought id ask to make sure.

Yeah, it's an issue with the occupancy mat.

Some people have replaced it, I unplugged mine and coded it off.
But it's very common...

+1 -- this has been a persistent problem in the last several generations of the 3 series. If your car is under extended warranty, just get it replaced. If not, it's either a loose connector (hopefully, but you still have to get the error cleared), or else needs a new occupancy sensor mat.

I had a similar problem so bought a bypass module from www.bmwairbagmodule.com
It worked a treat and my passenger seat always shows occupied now. Happy days. Only cost 30.

Does the airbag still deploy if it's bypassed?
