Just got my first e91... Qs

Hi all just bought an e91 12 plate 318d m sport in space grey, pro nav and heter leather

So before I post a load of Qs in the wrong place and annoy you all maybe you can direct me to the right part of the forum ( as there's loads!! Good job all)

Firstly it's got 6k on the click and prev owner git the service pack so it's serviced til 60k and has 2 years warranty. It has the dull angel eyes. The garage has said they can upgrade the lights alone fr 54! If i change the headlights and angel eye bulbs myself will it void the warranty?

Second - pro nav looks awesome (don't collect car for 4 weeks ) the dealer has told me the last disk is Europe pro 2012 - where do I find the manual or spec, I hear some of them have speed cameras on them?

3 - it has a USB and jack- if I get a hard drive will I be able to navigate through the music folders using idrive?

4 garage said my ipod will run on idrive without the cable I've seen (plug iPod cable/carger straight Ito USB ) is this the case

5 what the h3ll does cic mean ????

6 it has folding mirrors - will they fold when I lock it'll will I need to code it - how?

Appreciate any help

Cheers

Chris

If you have bought the car ask the seller for the owners manual and do a bit of swotting up

Wecome to the forum.

You'll very soon learn that the Pro Nav isn't so awesome, after all.
Looks nice - but not a patch on Garmin/Tom Tom.
The latest discs are 2013 - and they are about 25 to buy from your local $tealer. And then another 100 or so to get the code so they will work.

The Audio system is quite ordinary. You may get Album Art, but you may not - the Manual says you should, but that isn't the case.

The mirrors won't fold automatically on lock, although you can gt it coded to do that

Can't say on the iPod as I don't have a USB in the armrest.

Enjoy the car!

Congrats!

Basically CIC is the newest iDrive, with a hard drive on board and extra feautures. CCC is the old version. AFAIK you can not get speed cameras on the CIC iDrive, well that was the case on E9X iDrives, its probably the same on the F3X models.

To upgrade your sat nav, buy (or download) the 2013 nav disk for around 20 from a dealer. Then email a guy in Europe (haven't got his details to hand but can provide) who will email you back a long series of letters and numbers specific to your chassis number. This is called an FSC code and you pay him 60. Then simply insert the first disk and enter the code and wait! Then enter the next 2 disks and it should be completed.

BMW charge a ridicilous price for coding and labour, 300-350 IIRC. Its a joke to call it labour as all you do is use your hand to enter the code via the iDrive!

You'd have to get the $tealer to agree to the 2013 maps as part of the deal - it's not part of the warranty. He'd have to pay the cost of the discs, and the Sales part would have to pay the Workshop for the coding, so they're not going to do that!!

AFAIK you can't strike up the heated seats from the fob.

No cameras on any standard BMW NAV
I believe it is possible to load cameras onto CIC NAV, but it will be an awkward task, you won't get any "bong" warnings and the icons will only be fairly close.

Take care with the Nav. On entering the postcode, ALWAYS use the full 7 characters and road name, otherwise it will tend to send you to the centre of the particular town you are headed for. This also applies if you select, say, a restaurant that you've searched for. The Nav can also just take you to the centre of the town. (Can you tell that this has happened to me before!?!?!?)
My advice is that if you need to do something like that, phone the Connected Drive, and that will put you in the right places.

You can also disregard what they tell you about the SOS button. It doesn't automatically call the Emergency Services, and they won't know your location if you are unfortunate to have a biggie. Experience again

My power mirrors fold if i press the lock button a second time a second after pressing it to lock the car. Worth a try?

When i then press the unlock button the car unlocks AND the mirrors fold back out again.
