Fan not working / overheating

During hot days and long drives i get the yellow overheating symbol but the fans never turn on... Where is the Aux fan switch located? Is that the best thing to try to replace first? I don't seem to get any codes.

Thanks

Pretty sure it is just integrated as part of the temp sensor, which would appear to be working if you are getting the overheating symbol. I would check the fan itself for functionality.

the aux fan is controlled by the DME. there's no "switch". there's a control box that takes the low current PWM signal from the DME and sends the actual high current PWM signal to the fan, but there isn't a separate switch.

If your battery voltage is low it won't turn on the cooling fan. Somehow it prioritizes essential components to keep the car running and coolingfan isn't at the top of the list..

Might put the car on a battery tender then see if they come on when the vehicle gets up to temp.
