Can I make one of my steering wheel buttons turn off my nav screen?

Is there a code for this?
Can I create my own code for it?

I believe on CCC systems, the Star or Diamond button can be assigned to do this. I can't remember all the options. Mine are set to change audio sources and mute the volume.

However, I don't think it's possible with CIC systems.

Dang, I am really hoping to have my nav screen turn off at night with a button somehow since it helps with night time visibility to see better.

How so? I may try to reverse engineer that method to get the steering wheel button to do it

Thanks guys! I feel there's gotta be a way to reverse the definition of a steering wheel button so that it can then be programmed to perform a different function.

They communicate with the iDrive via CANbus so if you can somehow intercept the message that is sent when the button is pressed and interject a different message, you could theoretically remap the button to do something else.

Or just program one of the preset buttons to do it. Or use voice command.

FYI for CCC, the "screen off" was just a black screen but the backlight stays on so the screen is still lit up. Not sure how CIC screen off works.

Just tell it to turn off if you have voice control.
