In france bmw don t replace only wastegate actuator.
I ve ordered 2 wastegate actuator but impossible in france to change them and calibrate it. And as it necessary to remove turbo they prefer change directly turbo.
So i ve got a game of wastegate actuator new in my house, never used.
Now in france it is not possible to order part number wastegate separatly

Bought my 08 535xi wagon last month which still had 4 months of the 6yr/100,000mi extended warranty. Wastegates were rattling terribly, dealer warrantied both turbo assembles completely, no questions asked. No issues now running Cobb Stage I (which I removed before bringing the car in). Next up, walnut blasting and a DCI.

If the turbos completely fail are they covered under the warranty. Is it likely most turbos fail due to waste gate problems? I'm getting the 30FF and the car is not making any boost. Thanks in advance.

Not to say that a turbo failure is the cause of your code, but the most recent service bulletin regarding the turbochargers and their wastegates/actuators from July of 2012 discusses replacing the turbochargers. It covers a turbocharger failure due to a faulty wastegate/actuator.

bumping an old thread... my car has 93k miles, had the turbos replaced under warranty at 65k and i now have the rattle back. The car is at the dealer for my airbag recall, is there an additional warranty if the turbos were already replaced? my car is a 2008.

Similar scenario. Turbos replaced at 68k. Started rattling a little at 80k. Now at 96k and hasn't gotten any worse which is good. Build date 4/2008. Same applies to HPFP and injector warranty/recall. Per BMW they won't replace them again. I found out when the index #9 injectors that they installed started failing and I had to replace them with index #12 out of pocket. At least that is what they have told me.

The kicker of all this, came to find out my turbos were never replaced. So I'm at 94k miles on origional turbos and just not getting the rattle. I played with my JB4 and BEF settings, got to a point where I'm not embarrassed to drive the car but am worried about the timebomb in my engine.

I'm going to press the issue with BMWNA, I have a text from the salesperson saying the turbos were replaced so who knows what will come of this.

Does anyone know the email format that BMWNA uses? I found a few people on LinkedIn that I was going to contact but haven't been able to figure out their emails.

My turbos didn't rattle either. They were replaced at 68k because they didn't make boost. Didn't smoke either.
