Sony Ericsson P1i
As per the title, does anyone have one of these and if so... does it work with the factory bluetooth?
TIA

Yes I know the K800i works (I have one).
The P1i is brand new on the market and unlike the K series phones runs Symbian (like the Nokia N73, N95 etc). As such there's a strong chance that, like the Nokias, it won't work with BMW Bluetooth. However I also know that SE do more work when it comes to compatability. Hence my question! Anyone?

Expansys says Availability estimated at 2 days and the other link doesn't seem to say.... bear in mind a lot of sites will put products up before they are actually physically in stock.... are you certain it is out ?!
I'd be quite surprised if it doesn't work as current Sony Ericcssons do but then it does look like quite a new operating system on it!!!

Yes, I know it's shipping as there are a lot of people on esato that have them already. The symbian OS on the previous P990 took a couple of updates before it worked so hopefully they've used that as a starting point this time around!!!

Can't answer the Bluetooth question authoritatively but surely compatibility is based more on the Bluetooth setup than the phone op system?
![]() The P1i has been available on O2 for a while - I would have replaced my K800i by now if I hadn't had ages to run on my contract, making it prohibitively expensive to do so.... |

Bumps,
No it was to do with the profile the phone supports and the way in which Symbian stores the contacts. There are 4 BMW's with bluetooth in our carpark (2 E90's a B5 and a B6 'vert), only 1 of them works with the N95 (and even then doesn't support the address book). The others will pair but after that do nothing at all. There's also some evidence that differences in the actual bluetooth module in the cars can cause the issue. Anyway, I bought an iPhone instead and it works perfectly (better than the K800i even).

It's easily sorted.....Turn the engine off - take out the key and then deativate the bluetooth on your P1i and then re activate it. When you turn on the car egnition you should find that the Phone pairs up automatically again after a short while. I have found that it's the Phone and not the Car that causes the issue. PhilR |
