Hi Guys,

Has anyone here done the M3 cowl swap on their car?
If so, do you have any pics and a list of part numbers.
I wana see if i have missed anything that i may need to do this.

Cheers,
Damo

The coverings for left and right I don't think fit the n54 brake booster properly and so you'll need to notch out a section for the brake lines to poke though. You can optionally buy a cable routing clip but not sure if it will fit the n54 cabling.

Unfortunately for me I have a 1series and needed to notch the cowls for it to fit under my headlight washers (theyre on the bonnet on a 1series). Still haven't gotten around to finishing the project lol.

3 series fitment is perfect though.

I might get it later once I have everything in, still need to dig up the part number for that one. Need to get some time to fill in the notches I cut out of the top covers.

I run with the M3 cowl to keep it all nice and tidy.

I've tucked away all the cables and modded the unsightly brake booster hardline that was near the intake.

To me, engine bay presentation is important.

And be sure to buy the M3 micro filters also, I ordered the BMS ones and they didn't fit.

How did you go about modding the brake booster hard line? What did you do to it?

You can just cut off the hard pipe and that will expose some barbs. I used a pair of cutters to cut a slit in the hard pipe then got some pliers to slowly tear the hard pipe off in a spiral off the barbs.

You can use some reinforced power steering hose which fits nicely and doesn't collapse under vaccum. This will allow you to route it in a nice neat fashion. I had to do this for the brake booster check valve when I bought a the wrong LHD version and it was the wrong length. Would have to check the diameter of the hose when I get home, got it from supercheap auto

I would highly suggest buying a spare hard pipe in case you stuff it up lol

I just disconnected the existing hard lines from the connection points, used a heat gun to heat up the hose to remove the connections from the hard line with a sharp blade slitting the hose.

Then replaced the hard line with 3/8" brake hose...

Voila!

I found the part numbers for the M3 cable ducting if you want them:

12527532269 Cable Duct, upper section
12527532270 Cable Duct, lower section

Saves you trying to dig them up.

Those are the part numbers for the stock n54 ones.

I dug up the part numbers for the m3 cable tidy clip but they are not fitted to all M3s and you can't even buy them new from most online places like FCPeuro. So the only way is to buy used unless I buy from the dealer.

Buy it used, the top covers are quite expensive. The lower covers are pretty cheap so I bought them brand new
