Is this considered a base model?

I would normally never make a post like this but this ignorant guy at work who drives a Lincoln MKS ecoboost
(I know its a gussied up Ford taurus that has some balls) likes to make jokes about my base model BMW.

I really dont care what he thinks at all but as a whole I was wondering what is considered a base model 3 series?

Would it be just your standard 3 series auto 328i?

Would my car be considered a base equiv model? I tend to think its a drivers car.
  • 328i 6MT E90
  • Dakota Leather
  • Sport Package ( seats / Staggered wheels / suspension etc )
  • OEM HID Light Package
  • OEM Heat Seat Package ( I dont know the exact names ).
No nav no nonsense just a pure drivers car, Reminds me of a new version of my old E30 325is..

Again im a mid 30's father I Was just wondering what the post thought? I love my car.

When I think of base model I think 328xi auto I usually get as a loaner...

Its not base, just not fully loaded.

considering you have xenons for a 328, its actually well packaged especially sports.

Nice driver's car for sure. Far from "base". 6MT and sport package are the two most important things. After that, it's xenons since they go a long way to make the car not base-model. Everything else is just icing on the cake (though I happen to enjoy the icing :P ).

When I think base, I think 328i auto, non-sport, no xenons. It could have every other option, but the narrow 16" wheels, halogen lights, high suspension cheapens the look of the car by A LOT.

Cool figured as much, Yeah my cars pretty stock but as is came with 17's w/255's out back. I want to do a 3 stage manifold+Tune eventually.

Def would love to get some new rims soon I figured this is the response I would get, I love the 335s and respect them 100% but this little 328 handles great and is a nice daily driver.

I had a G35 which was faster but I love this car more, The more I drove my E30 the more I wanted to sell my G35 for a newer BMW.

Just installed OEM BMW Perf grill and im looking for an MMW front lip.

I think what your co-worker is saying is that the 328 is the base model to the 335 and the M series. Typical from a guy who drives a Ford. Keep reminding him of that.

No, its not a base model. You just don't have the iDrive but most importantly you got the sport package. Personally i rather have sport package instead of iDrive.

Who cares what people think. As long as you like the car is what matters.

Let him drive it... just once.

Ill bet he will stop trash talking your "base" model and will wish he didn't buy that Ford.

Power seats or poverty seats?

JK.

Non-powered, Sports seats are better than powered, non-sport seats.

You forgot to list moonroof, and BMW floor mats lol.

tell him you can pick up two of his 'fully loaded' sedans (probably 2010+) for the price of one of your base model 3'.....lol

and let him know he drives a taurus. not even a mks. its a taurus all around down to the motor.

Very similar thing happened to me... It was simply because I own a 328xi (E92) however, I do have premium, cold weather, sports, and iDrive along with M-Tech front, rear, and side skirts and a few other mods. Most people actually mistake it for a 335 because of the quad exhaust... Some people are just jealous and ignorant. Let them be it your car! Nice car by the way and by no means "base"

Huh? Pretty sure his 2008 328i is valued as much less than the MKS.

But yeah OP, that's far from "base". The "base" 328i would have zero options.

The "base model" 3er was only the 328 in the US if I'm not mistaken (which I may be). I know all the other countries I know of had smaller engine options and a more basic interior (cloth).

I hate ignorant comments like that. For starters BMW doesnt have a base model since there are no trim levels that bring certain options like mainstream manufacturers i.e. Toyota or Honda with their LE, XLE, EX, LX, etc. Yeah, you have the 328i and not M3/335i but a fair amount of options so no you don't have a "base" model. And even if you did so what. It's your money and you drive what the hell you want.

I know I wrote that in my first post I was just seeing what everyone else's perception was here. I didnt get iDrive on purpose. I think id love the OEM computer stuff but for NAV its not that great and just another thing to worry about breaking down the road.
