Infamous Brake Squeal?

So I recorded what I'd been hearing and posted it to YouTube.

There's some squealing around the :30 mark where I turn right. This one almost sounds metal on metal. There is a slight "normal" brake squeal I think at :36.

Then from 1:00 until the end there is major squealing which also sounds metal on metal.

Any input?

This is normal on the Ultimate Driving Machine. Just step on the brakes and the noise will go away.

But seriously, I have the same problem. It gets worse and worse for me (step on acceleration up to 40 mph and I get the squeak; worse when turning). I bought the disc brake quiet stuff (the red stuff and the brake cleaner) off Amazon which I'm going to try it this weekend to see if it'll stop the squeal.

The noise at 1 min + is the exact same noise I experience, although mine is somewhat louder. I have ~7,000 miles left on my front pads (which are the ones that squeal) and while I am out of warranty, I do have prepaid maintenance yet the dealership will not replace them until the pads hit that threshold (10mm?).

If you are still under warranty, which I'm assuming you are, take it to the dealership and see what they can do...

Mine squealed too. I took it in and they said one of the brake sensors was exposed somehow and was squeaking as if the brakes were worn down. They just replaced all the brakes for me and off I went.

I went in and talked with my SA on Friday and that is what he told me. My pads are probably low enough that the sensor is touching the rotor and scratching.

He said they would measure the rotors, and if under the specs, would replace everything. If not, they'd put everything back on and I'd try to wear the rotors more before my maint ends next year.

Garage List
1. Noise coming from rear? When was the last time you had the rear rotors changed? Look for rust on the e-brake rotor surface. Over time, water/road spray can get into the vent holes corroding the surface, forcing the rust build up against the shoes.
2. Noise coming from front? Could be power steering trouble. The belt/pulley can rub against the subframe when making a turn. Have you hit any massive potholes or bumps lately?
