At 8 sec mark of the video, the traffic light has turned amber and the driver is at least 10 ft away from the intersection. If the driver is driving with due care, then he should have enough time to brake and stop.

btw. the driver of the car is well known over at the RFD fourm.

Lol dude you could have slowed down a bit...not disregarding the stupidity of drivers who make left hand turns in front of others, but still....

Markham is disgustingly unsafe when around other drivers. Large community of bad drivers IMO.

Meh, it happens all the time. I've captured dumber and more dangerous driving things in the GTA on my dashcams too (front and back). I just learn to react to it all.

Yes, a hotspot at Silverstar and Midland.

Looks like you have the BlackVue HD dashcam?

I was gonna say you're a douche because the light was yellow, but after further review, the light had JUST turned yellow for a split second, so the others shouldn't have just bolted through their lefts just yet.

The one thing that is clear from that video is that nobody in it, including the OP, knows how to drive.

You can see the crosswalk timer count down in 1080p on youtube indicating a red light.

Either the driver in the video has poor vision or poor awareness, puts him on the same level as the left turner imo.

Here's hoping he never gets his hands on something as powerful as a C63 because he probably would've gone ramming speed into that second van and blamed them fully for it.

This is quite a norm now. Lately everyone seems to be in a rush to pull stunts like these... All across GTA

Looks like the Blackvue dr400g-hd

I have one, bought it through kijiji. Overall, it's a nice unit, but pretty expensive and at times, a little finicky.

We have the highest insurance rate in the GTA.

What you see is the norm in Markham. On a weekly basis I dodge about 4-6 accidents a week. Sad but true.

Video shows two guys trying to beat a red light instead of stopping at the amber. Dash cam would not have given him the win in court.

+1...or the person who gave the advice about being 10ft from the intersection although agreed in this case there was time to stop going 34km/hr. This is not a rule or law. It is called the reasonable point of no return. Time for people to go back to driving school.

A classic case of stubborn guy trying to impress lady friend passenger. So yeah people, be careful out there.

The OP was not 10 feet from the intersection, he was about 45 ft away. He was doing 33km/hr (30 ft/sec) at the instant the light went yellow and the MB was over the crosswalk on the other side at that time. It took him over a second to get to the crosswalk on his side. He could have slowed down and stopped unless he has no brakes, but instead he chose to accelerate. (when he got to the crosswalk on his side, over 1 second had elapsed since the light changed to amber so he may have been 60 feet away at that time) If I was him, I would not post a video like this and complain about the other drivers.
