A/C flow rate

Does anyone have problems with the E90 blowing out low airflow out of the A/C?
Even at MAX or full speed setting?

I thought mine had a bad blower since it took forever to cool the car down. Eventually it squealed and rattled so I brought a new blower and it had a updated part # but still the same thing except no more squealing noise from the blower motor bearing.
I can barely feel the air blowing on my face even with the vents aimed right.

I took it to the service dept and they tested the A/C and it's cooling as it should and said nothing's wrong with it. And they charged me diagonisc to no fault found.

I have not been in another E90 to verify the problem is the same or not.

When I'm in my wife's car (2010 Honda accord v6) and it blows out a lot of air and cools the car down fast!

Anyways is anyone having the same problem or know what it could be?

I guess you need one of the B777 air cycle machines . I guess you have changed the cabin filter? My e30 and e46 pushed the air to my nose. With the e90 I have to close the pass vents to get that wash on my face.

a while back i was looking in to making my AC cold (wanted it to blow ice cubes) and reading in the book i think there are 8 actuator motors in the ventilation system. One or some of these motors could be non-functioning causing your issues (Assuming your cabin filter isn't a cinder block) Not sure how to check for it though or if its accessible without taking the dash out. Maybe something to consider... I think 7 of the 8 motors were all the same part number, so if it is that and you do the work your self hopefully it will be cheap!

If I remember correctly, there are vent flaps under the cabin air filter ( you need to remove the cabin filter housing to access it) make sure they are completely open. if not, you will not get air in to cabin full force.because when max is on on the ac, it blows pretty hard. It does take sometime to cool down since the leather interior takes time cool off. I would have them checked.

I wish...the ACM won't fit

I did change the cabin air filter recently and it didn't make much of a difference.

I got to check this.

Here's what I noticed when playing with the controls, if the AC is in full speed in auto mode or top selection (dash vents) and I press the AC compressor button (snowflake one) and the air flows more out of there. I press it back in again to engage the compressor and the airflow drops quite a bit.

Other than attempting to replace the blower impeller with a better one if there's one out there, there's not much I think left other to check the intake flap with the cabin air filter removed.

while i can't say my a/c blows ice cube, it does blow enough most of the time.
but it's nothing compared to my civic. if you ever seen a honda a/c evaporator, it's as big as the damn radiator. ours is 1/3rd the size to say the least.

Mine takes a while to cool down as well, although the flow is decent, I can also change the intensity in the i drive (nav screen)
I do however get that flow that blows hard then you can hear it go really low, and then high again, like it's choking. I try to avoid using the damn thing.

*make sure the dial on the dash turned left towards the blue all the way.
if you have it turned right; heat; it will not blow cold air even if you have the snowflake button on.
If you have the dial on cool and run air with the snowflake off it will not cool either. When you turn the snowflake button on it will engage the compressor so the cooling will start.

Mine does take long to cool down too. The air flow is not one speed on my car either, I like that, it is like breeze that has different strength. Remember Infiniti was advertising that on their M56 as a sales pitch.

I'm not happy at all with my A/C! My former 1series was much better! I feel choked sometimes, kind of being cut off from fresh air...

I don't think the problem is the evaporator size, it's the blower speed/volume that's lacking

It is both turned down to 60* the coldest setting.

The snowflake button is what engages the A/C compressor, with it off; it's just moving air without cooling it.

These cars have small air handlers. They cool but takes a while on a real hot day. My friend's MB E350 blows my air away. Pisses me off every time! It's like start, poofs of air, you're frozen and have to turn it down because your hands are ice. LOL.

Had time to take the cabin filter assembly out and observed the vent flap;

With AC on and running in normal mode, vent flaps are closed
With AC on in max mode, vent flaps are still closed.

With AC compressor selected OFF, vents flaps are fully open.

It seems whenever the AC is running the vent flaps closes completely. When I turn the AC compressor off, I feel better airflow than with it on.
