Been through 3 exhausts and still not satisfied... Help!

Ok guys i'm posting this because i'm about ready to give up and looking for suggestions or ideas. So i've now been through 3 exhausts and i'm yet to be fully satisfied. First I had stock with DP and secondary cat delete, then VRSF, then Active Autowerke. Below i'll put what I don't like about each and the vids.

Stock w/ secondary cat delete: Honestly no real complaints. It had zero drone which was nice but it was a bit too quiet for my taste and the tone wasn't all that great.

VRSF: VRSF was probably by far my favorite in terms of volume. It was quiet but when you stepped on it loud. The tone was amazing, it was a smooth 6 cylinder turbo sound no raspiness like the usual N54 exhausts I hear. My problem with it was mainly how low it hangs. With my car lowered it would scrape on every speedbump even when I took a huge angle. It was just too much to worry about.

AA Exhaust: AA fixed my issues with hanging low but worsened sound. The drone is pretty bad although bearable I guess, the tone is pretty good most of the time, but volume is pretty loud. My biggest problem with this exhaust is under heavy loud like 4th gear 40 MPH when you give it maybe half throttle the exhaust sounds like complete shit. Literally sounds like a modded honda civic accelerating.

You can kinda hear the honda civic sound i'm talking about in this vid:

Anyways so now i'm stuck. I have a buyer for my AA exhaust and I can't figure out what to do next. I'm debating if I should try another exhaust like AE and hope it doesn't have that civic sound I hate, or just mod the stock exhaust. If I mod stock I would replace my e90 resonator with an x-pipe and add vibrant resonators where the secondary cat delete was. That would effectively make it a coupe exhaust with resonators instead of secondary cats. The reason i'm not sure if this is the best route is it wouldn't be all that cheap and after all i'm still going to have the shitty flowing and heavy stock exhaust. I feel like if i'm going to spend money i'd be better off getting a better flowing aftermarket exhaust that will add a tiny bit of performance and give me weight savings.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any exhausts that you have on your car that you think would give me everything i'm looking for? Any help would be appreciated.

Sti sounds weird.

eisenmann? PE? both axlebacks, but will probably give you the sound you're looking for.

Blown motor. Was replaced by Subaru last week this is his 3rd so hopefully this one lasts... Anyways I was thinking of doing that but I feel like again then i'm spending money and keeping the shitty stock exhaust in terms of weight and performance.

Really? I've been thinking it might be rattling against or hitting something but i've had a few shops look at it including a BMW master tech and they said it looked like it was clearing everywhere. Does yours drone? Mine is almost unbearable.

Edit: Also how do your tips fit? Mine aren't perfectly centered and another e90 local to me had the same issue

You could always remove the tips and put some singles on it. Can't be that hard to swap em out (as much as I hate recommending something like that on a really expensive system).

Have you listened to Corsa yet? I know they are completely unrelated but my dad's old C5 vette years ago had the Corsa Tigershark exhaust on it. Sounded fan-f$#%ing-tastic under load and purred like a cat while cruising. The RSC (reflective sound cancellation) that they always boast about is the real deal.

Hey Pete. You might want to try fabricating your stock with the xpipe and vibrants. Maybe getting the performance exhaust mod too by ACM. Overall cost should be around $800 roughly.

That's essentially what I want to do so can you so it first. .

I think catless dp + ae is the best IMO.

I'll txt you a clip on YouTube which I think sounds perfect.

It's pretty much trial and error till you find the right set up.

Yea I could swap them but as you said it's kinda ruining an expensive system. Ahh this sucks. If I could get remus with the tips single I would try that next in a heartbeat.

Actually I think the shop I use might have a corsa axle-back up for sale. Maybe i'll ask him and give that a try. Seems like axle-back might be my best bet for what i'm going for

Hahaha ik but all this trial and error is costing me too much $$$. Bryce even said i'm practically keeping him in business just paying for all these exhaust swaps. I've been thinking about making it the coupe exhaust for a while and modding mufflers but idk. Maybe i'll give ACM a call and ask them tomorrow for a total cost.

you just got that exhaust to haha. it's so hard to judge exhaust tones though in videos because there mostly filmed terrible but ae does seem like a top choice. best bet is to try and meet up with other members who have some of the exhausts your looking at so you can hear it in person...can also try to get a guinea pig deal from a vender on the cobb exhaust and post a video so everyone can hear!

Well Pete if you want before you the pull the trigger on an AE or any exhaust, I'll meet up with you and let you hear mine and I'll take you out on a test drive. Keep in mind mine drones slightly because I'm 6at which is more prone to droning, the guy I bought my AE from had it on a 6mt and it didn't drone at all

Edit: I'd also like to hear yours because I am looking for a little more volume and I am interested in the AA.. You may also want to consider adding resonators for that rasp that sounds like a honda.. The guy below said it made a huge difference for rasp.

was there no way to fix the VRSF exhaust so it didn't hang so low?

It sounds like they are redesigning it for clearance reasons so you might want to wait if it really was your favorite exhaust that you have had.

Personally that is what I am waiting for.

Another option, although it doesn't seem to be very popular, would be Milltek. Milltek only makes an exhaust for the e92 but other e92 exhausts fit on e90's just the tips will stick out a bit further. My friend has one on his e92 and it sounds great. Quiet at idle but sounds throaty under load. He says it has zero rasp and very little to no drone but he is 6MT. However, he is not catless so that may add some rasp or drone.

Our cars will never please us....if it sounds amazing it drones. If it doesn't drone its too quiet. We just can't have it all unfortunately.

OP, do this = put in vibrant resonators where your secondaries are. Install an Xpipe. Replace your mufflers with Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonators. You'll thank me later.

Going completely catless is an invitation to smoking and bad smell issues.

I found a seet of AA axlebacks from their full kit. Slapped it on to my stock exhaust with secondary cats (Drone Killers), and it sounds to die for. I'll post vids once our weather paterns stabilize.

+1 I love the VRSF setup but worried about scraping when I go to install coils. Be interesting to see what solution they come up with.

Best sounding exhaust I think is the bustuck exhaust with custom mid pipes. I have the RPI exhaust and love it
