N52 misfire

Engine stutters when cold, when warmed up stutter goes away. No check engine light, no codes. Car has 120k miles on it, spark plugs changed 20k miles back still running original coils.

Would bad coils trigger CEL light? Before starting to replace things, wanted to pose a question on where to start looking.

I was getting this too. At first I thought it was a vacuum leak because I had to replace my starter and I had a CEL showing misfire. I filled up, put STP fuel system cleaner concentrate and after 30 miles or so CELL was gone and the rough idle. I only tried it because I read it on 3 different forums. So it was the cheapest fix. Good luck!!

Clean MAF, Vanos. Check air filter. Run a bottle of techron through.

What's the right way to clean MAF? Cleaned vanos yesterday with compressed air.. It looked brand new.

Cleaning MAF got rid of the problem.. It had a layer of gunk on the metal sensor part. Drove it around cold this morning, no more hesitation.. Thanks for the tip!!
