Selling Tips

Anyone got any?

My for sale ad

Got it listed here, ebay, Pistonheads, Gumtree, I think the photos look good and the description seems good, maybe the price was a bit optimistic to start with but you've got to try

Any suggestions??

Not on Auto trader as I think it is a Rip-off, I think most people would look on ebay these days. Am I wrong - should it try auto trader?

Any other sites I should be on?

My car was on eBay for 2 weeks didn't get one call..
Put it on autotrader online+magazine last Tuesday and it was sold by friday, first person that viewed it bought it.
All the calls I had came through AT...

I would look on AT/eBay and see what similar have been priced at then go under that as they are the ones that haven't sold.

Half the job is getting serious buyers to bother coming to view but once you've got them there you're in with a good chance of selling.
You can advertise at a competitive price to get them through the door so to speak then when they show signs they deffo want the car you can drive a hard bargain and only come down a few hundred on asking price.

Once you've got them there and they are very interested they will find it hard to walk away

I've always had more responces when I just put the most basic ad possible,

don't brag about MPG or cheap tax
I didn't even write MOT or Tax expiry on mine and still got a call

take photos by your house, a public place always looks weird to me!

Sounds like Autotrader is worth a shot then. Also a good point about simplifying the ad. Unfortunately there is nowhere at my house to get good photos so I have to go to a car park or similar.

I have talked to the Mrs about posing in a skimpy outfit but it didn't go down well.

I personally don't think ebay is a great place to sell a car.

You should definitely have an ad on Autotrader, I think it's most people first stop for used car buying, mainly because the search function is so good.

Getting a few enquiries now but they all get to the stage that they are about to arrange to view and then contact me with with some excuse why they don't have the money, when pushed they say they can afford 6,500k, which I have been offered as a trade in.

Is this the new way of haggling? Do people not like haggling face to face anymore? Spineless n*bs!!

So I guess 6,500k cash is better than 6,500 trade in as it gives more flexibility and haggling power. Although i'm convinced the car is worth more - am i being unrealisitc?

4k drop in 2 years and 20k miles seems a lot...

Buyers market im afraid. Hold out for a bit more, people will always offer something silly to see how easy you are to sway on price.
