Are you just trying to share your disappointment or are you looking for help? WTF is the 2D5A code?

I have no idea anymore. I do know my revlimiter is 6500RPM.

The car...Valvetronic Sensor failure (after MONTHS of not running codes) and probably a cam sensor.

No idea, it's probably why my car is limiter is now 6500RPM. It's so slow and pathetic right now, I had to unplug the Valvetronic sensor. It's time to finally replace this bad boy.

FWIW, there's nothing in Bentley about it other than simply listing it as a BMW FC without a P-code

Hang on a second. This 6500 rpm limit is so similar to what happened to me when the Valvetronic motor was replaced and the workshop that fitted it did not calibrate it properly. I gather they fitted it and tried to do the fine adjustment without bothering to allow it to do the basic end point sweep. When I drove the car home it was very jerky and not particularly lively, and then when I gave it some WOT to redline it would not go much over 6000 rpm (can't recall exactly). A bit later I remembered the basic calibration where you simply insert the key fob, turn the ignition on without starting the engine, and it indeed ran through the end point sweep. Car drove fine after that.

But, if there is a problem with the eccentric shaft, then that's a different story.

Oh there is a problem, saw oil in the plug. This happened before and I cleaned it, it was fine for a while, but now it obviously needs to be replaced.

I replaced mine a few weeks ago. Not that hard at all if you follow the DIY. Hope you get the eccentric shaft sensor replaced soon

25DA is a torque management limp mode. basically because of the other failed electronics, the DME is limiting torque output and RPM. I think with the valvetronic sensor failed, it just leaves the valves open and uses the throttle plate instead, but obviously limits performance quite a bit.

I've seen tunes where whoever did it didn't know what all the limiters were for, and set all of them to 7200rpm, including the limp maps.. not really a good idea!

I ordered the Valvetronic Sensor kit from ECS, as well as the camshaft positioning sensor. I hope I can manage to do this, seems like a tedious job.

Is that style 188 wheels on your car, or something else?

Looks very similar to the style 188 in the smallish pic, was just curious.

Just take your time and do your research beforehand. Honestly the hardest part is maneuvering the valve cover off and then back onto the top of the engine. It won't just lift straight up and out. Otherwise it's pretty simple.
