Is washing your car once a week too much?

I put around 200-250 miles a week on my car and I was wondering if getting your car washed once a week is too much.

I just go to the BMW dealership since I have free car washes for life about once a week, but it just got me thinking, is once a week too much?

I have one vinyl sticker on my car and all my emblems are carbon fiber (black and white), would those be affected in the long run by washing the car too much?

Thanks! Just curious. How often do you guys wash your car?

I wash the cars every week in average (sometimes more in the winter). Didn't wash them this week.

So what's the pros and cons?

Are there any pros besides your car will look nicer?

I wash it to take the salt off the car, to avoid stains and corrosion.

Cons may be scratches and swirls in the paint.

Once a month is sufficient for me. Dust it every Sunday evening too. Gotta pay the price for a black car!

^ Same here, once a month. It's garage parked at home and at work, so it doesn't get too dirty.

As long as you wax it once in awhile, and don't use any wash that cuts through all of the wax without ever giving it a fresh coat.

I use Chemical Guys citrus wash, and then once every other month or so I give it a quick wax.

I wash my car about once a week, depending upon the upcoming work week's forecast. I don't need to do it, but
I enjoy it. It's part of my Saturday/Sunday relaxation.

I wax twice a year, once in the summer and once before winter.

Weekly washing is pretty normal for just about everybody who cares about their car. When I was in college and after that working 32 hour weekends (16 Sat and Sun with M-F off). I washed my car anytime it got dirty whether it was every week or every 2 days. Now that there is more to life than my car I still wash it weekly. Anyhow weekly is hardly considered meticulous or anything special.

I wash my car once a week as well, however by hand.

I don't trust machines or the regular $5 express wash you see about the place, so I wouldn't recommend that (a few friends have had horrible experiences).

Just my personal tastes though. Very few things, in my opinion, beat the satisfaction of giving your vehicle the proper hand wash it deserves by yourself!

I love a good hand wash....but sometimes find myself too lazy then go for the local swirl option machine wash.....cars clean at least with a couple new scratches......meh cars get old and paint gets destroyed

Since I apply clay bar, Polish, and wax twice a year...I wash it every week. In the winter, I don't wash it with soap more than 2-3 times. Go to a self serve car wash and rinse the car off if you do the above as I mentioned. Once a week is great.

Use two buckets; one to wash, one to rinse. Use a good detergent made for cars. I use Meguiar's products for almost everything. Use good micro-fiber towels and was gently and dry gently.
