MAF help

Hi everyone. I have a 3 series 318D touring 2009 LCI model.
Few weeks ago i checked with ista/d after engine light came up and came up with air mass filter problem cleared 2ice and ended up replacing with new part from eurocarparts 207 inc vat.
Anyway worked well for few days then limp mode came up again and same error code. Clearing up for about 4th time today and someone said you need to do the replacment change on ista/d so car knows i have replaced it.
Is that true and if yes is anyone able to show me steps on how to do so as i can not seem to find it on ista/d or should i use ista/p? Please help as is driving me mad. Spent on Clutch and flywheel and new dpf fitted so tight with money at minute to go to "steelers" lol
Thank you

You've probably bought an unsuitable MAF sensor. Any other brand than BOSCH (=BMW OEM) won't work proper. Disconnect the MAF and drive around. If car now runs better: MAF is crap or defective. Buy BOSCH (and save 50% money)

Did you check it was the same part number as the old one? Sometimes they change them during a production run and they may have given you the wrong one.

It might also indicate another issue, like a boost leak or something, depending on exactly what the fault code is!

You should reset the adaptations for the MAF otherwise the car will think the old one is still installed.

Can be done via DIS and I suppose INPA.

There aint no part in a car that is as fussy as a MAF sensor.
What you need is not a 'fully compatible' part. You need the spare part.

The old MAF has a number. Only a MAF with the same number will fit the car.

Got any pics how bad it was? Not sure if I should bother taking off the intake manifold on mine as the EGR was fairly clean when I took if out for cleaning.
