^ True. Motul 300V is the most popular upgrade oil these days. BMW Oil (re-branded castrol), Castrol European Formula(known as German Syntec), is also recommended.

Amsoil is also a very good oil. Very high TBN and high zddp. It's the only oil I use; in my 800+ whp S2000 and 335.

Which Amsoil product do you use? I talked to a jobber I get my Amsoil fluids from and he said they are coming out with a LL-01 spec oil soon.

The premium synthetic 10w40 with high zinc (zddp) or the european 5w30 would be fine. The further the numbers are apart though, the worse it is at controlling the lubrication properties at temperature from what I have learned; ie 5w30 would far exceed the capabilities of 5w40 because the cold lubricity and hot lubricity are nearer if that makes any sense. You can do some reading up on it if you do some searching as I did; just can't remember all of the scientific factors envolved off the top of my head because its been a while.

mobile 1 0w-40 european formula or castrol 0w-30 european formula (german castrol) are both great oils and can be found at your local autozone/advance auto parts. I've even seen mobile 1 0w-40 at walmart for 6.50 a quart!!!
