Xpipe In your Exhaust System?

I have been piecing together oem mid pipes and manifolds to make a stocker system with no cats. The oem muffler seems to be boss in keeping back pressure. Just wondering if anyone has an x pipe in their system to increase performance. I have been reading a little about their usage in dual exhaust systems and their ability to increase power and torque due to exhaust scavenging between cylinders but we already have a y-pipe/resonator section that joins the two pipes pre-resonator. Would the addition of an xpipe or replacement of the resonator with an x-pipe be of benefit?

I see no benefit if you keep the y-pipe/res of the stock exhaust. If you were to set up a true dual setup then yes, I think it would be beneficial.

It's clearly beneficial in a dual setup for eliminating drone/rasp and increasing performance but we don't have a full dual set up. In any case, even with an x pipe in stead of the resonator it still needs to go into a y if the stock muffler is being used. If you have a dual inlet muffler like a magnaflow or a flowmaster then it changes the game, but my plans involve the stock muffler.
