Another VRSF Intercooler Installed!

Was going to go with a Big Tom Intercooler but went with VRSF instead. Got everything lined up and I must say the damn T-Bolts at the top of the pipes were an utter pain in the ass.

To those who installed this intercooler please look at the braces. Did I install them right? Sorry, this thing didn't come with instructions.

Took out the car and it felt great. Butt dyno showed a nice power gain up top. If you're expecting power like when you first got a tune, its not there It just makes the car breathe a lot better.

After the 5-6th highway pull and 2 romps from a stop my boost all of a sudden went down to 8psi like stock. Scanned the car and it showed up as a 30FF code. Got me a boost leak somewhere... Maybe I didn't tighten down one or more of the clamps very well...

gratuitous Corgi shot.. little f#cker wouldn't leave me alone while I was inspecting the contents so I stuck him in the box!

Looks sweet! How long did it take you to install? What trimming was involved?

You pretty much have to hack off the whole bottom part of the shroud. Fortunately I had done this and removed OEM intercooler well before hand. Installation on my own took me around 1.5 hours with a bunch of smoke brakes. Wasnt too bad. When the shroud is trimmed, its a piece of cake.

Unfortunately for me I tightened the t-bolt clams on the intercooler first and then went for the other ones which may have caused me to not tighten them all very well. I have a boost leak coming from somewhere..

Looks good to me. Maybe want to try my suggestions.

I faced the top clam the other way so it wouldn't touch houses.

Any specific reason why you are running Map2 and not Map5? I find Map5 to be a lot better.

Why didn't I also get a dog with my IC?

By the way, I like your rims

I agree with bimmer305, make those clamps straight and check out that coupler to see why it is compressed

My hose looked squished like that too, I think the coupler they include in this kit is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch too long. If you push the coupler over the "bottom out" point on the cold side, it would work, but I wanted to have everything flush.

Not a big deal, when it sees boost it inflates anyway, doubt there is any turbulence caused by such a mailable piece of rubber.

But yes +1 to fixing those clamps.

The t-bolt on the upper clamp doesn't look to be tight enough judging by the amount left on the bolt.

Make sure to seat the tbolt directly after the bead. Not on it or too far from it. The support bracket is supposed to thread into the strut bar support bracket stud (closest to the front of the car).

I am trying to figure out why it is doing that. Pisses me off, but I am glad I'm not the only one with this problem..

And isn't the intercooler suppose to sit right below the radiator with no gaps. This is how mine looks..

Check if the intercooler ears (where both screws screw to the car's plastic frame on both sides) have any gap, meaning if the screws are screwed all the way in.
If they are screwed all the way in, I guess it is an intercooler defect.

Dude, I used bolts, washers, and nuts to secure this thing. Just drill where the oem holes are at the bottle of the bumper and secure that way. I have like 6-7 bolts (heavy duty ones) holding this thing together.
