Pretty sure it's considered "near luxury" but it's all relative. I've driven Sentras as rentals before and I can tell you it's about as far on the modern non-lux end of the spectrum as you can get, so to him you might as well be driving a Roller.

Almost every car today has push start though.

Don't cars around 55k and over msrp have luxury tax on them? many 3 series can be easily configured to that price. If yours is that much then you can go back and tell that guy it is a luxury car, you even paid the dam tax.

First world argument, in most parts of the world, just having a car is a luxury.

The 3 is a luxury, it is not the most luxurious, but it is clearly in the luxury class.

The 1 is more mixed. It is more luxurious than most subcompact, but in standard trim, it is missing many luxury "must have" (leather, auto AC, etc). So its unclear, its high end for the type of car, but its not clearly "luxury", exept if you shell out for the option book profusely.

Who cares the point is do you like to drive it.

Who cares the point is do you like to drive it.

It's perception. Can't go by price alone, I've never heard anyone call a Corvette luxury car, yet look at the price tag. I don't really consider a 3 series "luxurious". It's too small, is too quick, rides too firmly and the personality is too playful. Nicely appointed is probably a better description.

most standard Chevys are loaded better than a standard 3 series, but what is luxury? is luxury the bells and whisles that are on your stat sheet? or is it the pure quality and worksmanship that are added to even the most basic part?

People say that 3 series are common or the poor mans BMW or whatever, but when it cost 65k CAD new, fully loaded, that is not cheap, poor or common to me. It is luxury. All of the features make it luxury. It is also sport oriented.

Technically we're no longer bottom of the line BMW although we're still down there lol. Anyway that Nissan owner trying to prove something? Should've told him to go away..

Base models are not luxury at all, fully loaded ones are. Not in the same class as 750s but still pretty loaded with luxury features.

I don't understand what you mean with this. Most Chevys are a festival of cheap plastic that smells bad and squick if you look at it too mean. It may have more cup holders and other BS features, but that doesn't make for a luxurious feel. Poor material and assembly shows, especially when it is the result of bean counting approach of workmanship.

considering you can buy three and a half sentras for the price of one well equipped 335... id say its luxurious compare to the sentra..
besides bmw is a brand... a brand that you pay a premium to have their car... you can have a well equipped genesis with as much power and the little things that the 335I has... yet the 335 will cost a good 20,000 dollars more... that extra 20 grand is the cost of driving a luxury car... the cost of driving the bmw brand!

Subjective statements like that are fuel for arguments. Shit, even I don't know if my car is sport or luxury -- I think it's a hybrid
