M3 rims style 219 on E91 Touring - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Hey,

Im new on here and just bought a 2008 E91 Touring.

Im looking to buy new rims and have fallen in love with the M3 style 219.

Front: 8,5 x 18 ET29
Michelin Pilot sport 2 * 245/40 ZR18 96Y DOT2610
Michelin Pilot sport 2 * 245/40 ZR18 96Y DOT2610

Rear: 9,5 x 18 ET23
Michelin Pilot sport 2 * 265/40 ZR18 96Y DOT3610
Michelin Pilot sport 2 * 265/40 ZR18 96Y DOT3610

Will these fit without any rubbing? How about the offset, will it be flush with the car or look totally off?

Since your car is a 2008 and therefore pre-facelift, you can fit these wheels for a nicely flush fitment front and rear. Those tire sizes are not correct for a non-M though. I suppose you are looking at picking up the set used with rubber already mounted? I would strongly consider trying to convince the seller to unmount the tires and just sell you buy wheels. FWIW, the correct tires would be 225/40R18 and 255/35R18. Those tall M tires may work out ok if you are not lowered but I would worry about rubbing on bumps, esp. with some weight in the loadspace. Either get the correct rubber or roll the rear fenders.

I will try to convince the buyer to sell without tires, and then buy tires separate.

Indeed, you will have rubbing up front and won't be able to turn the wheel lock to lock without encountering some rubbing issues with the M3 tire (245/40/18) setup.

On the other hand, you could go up to a plus size from OEM sizes, to 235/40/18F, 265/35/18R, but it would depend on the tire brand. Michelin Super Sports would be too big and cause rubbing in the rear. Take a look at my ride, below. I have Hankooks at the above sizes with very minimum rub...to the point where I didn't bother to roll my rear fenders on sport suspension, with such a minor issue.

However, if you carry a lot of weight in the rear, and don't want to roll fenders, stay with 225/40F, 255/35R. That would be your best bet.

Better buy some aftermarket brake pads with low dust. You will curse every time you wash your wheels with the OEM pads.

Rear offset is too aggressive for LCi cars. The track is 8mm wider compared to the OP's pre-facelift car. You can make it work if you roll the rear fenders pretty good.

I had read that the e91 LCI wagons have slightly more rear fender room than the e90 LCI sedans. Anyone confirm/deny?

I can personally confirm that these very wheels, with correctly sized rubber, rubbed on my LCi wagon.

That was the plan but I traded the car before I had the chance. I may put them on my e90 this winter.

So is this a slight rubbing on tires on heavy bumps that can easily be cured or a major body adjustment?

Maybe the replica 219 9.5" rears with 35 mm offset are a better choice?

I would say it was a pronounced rubbing over anything even vaguely resembling a bump. My car was not X-drive and had sport pack and for some reason looked lower than every other e91 I have ever seen, especially in the rear. It is almost as if the factory accidentally put the sport suspension from an e90 on my car, which caused it to be really low in the rear as the wagon is over 100 pounds additional, all in the rear.

It looked as though it could have been cured by a very aggressive rolling job and tires that have a rounded shoulder. I just wasn't interested in pushing the fitment limits on what was supposed to be a practical family hauler. I can't exactly tell the wife that we can't use the wagon to pick up this or that large item she wants because of some wheels and tires I fitted.
