Question Adding OEM Custom Buttons to the Central Console

I would like to discuss the possibility of adding custom buttons or modifying existing ones to work with aftermarket devices (radar detectors, jammers, dashcams etc). The main goal is to keep it OEM looking. I know, you can add something to the ashtray, but again, there is a plenty of room at the central console and its convenient to reach.

As one of the options, it would be adding buttons to the heated seats panel (pre-LCI). Those cars with PDC and sunshade have additional control buttons there. Cars with heated seats option have a blank piece in the middle. How about to replace that blank piece with custom buttons a-la PDC or sunshade? Then modify the switch behind the button to work with custom device. If this is possible it will ensure the interior will stay OEM and very convenient device control.

Has anyone considered this or seen anywhere?
