Bastuck Installed

Itís been an extremely long day. First I'd like to thank Ilia@IND for sending me a quality product. Second Iíd like to thank Jake Sweeney BMW for the install even though they kicked me out of the shop when I was trying to take some install photos

Iím very pleased with the Bastuck muffler. There is no droning, just a little louder than stock. At WOT this thing screams! I love it. Iím glad I did some research before I bought an exhaust. This is the kind of system I could add some downpipes to later and not have to worry about the increase in tone.

-Rob

Bad pix I took during install, new pix coming soon

I have the rear muffler only installed. I asked my service advisor to remove the dummy cats and he laughed at me I need to stay away from BMW dealerships when adding my next mods. I will be looking for a shop to remove the cats.

I'm curious as what they charged you for the install, vs a independent shop. No worries if you don't want to say.

ohh did you have to cut the stock pipes and weld it to the rear muffler?
You can always get your pipes custom later

No worries. The install cost a little over $140. Not bad for a dealership. I talked to the installer and he was very happy with the fitment.

I asked them to not weld. The exhaust came with some very nice clamps. I want to add some mid pipes + down pipes later.

Wow that's a great price. Thanks for all the info. I've got mine narrowed down to Bastuck's and UR's.

They look great i guess the only thing is that don't they look a little too recessed? Shouldn't they stick out a bit more? it seems shorter than stock even and that over time the bumper plastic will darken because of the exhaust fumes.

To the people at Bastuck - is this tested over and that the bumper will not darken? for a dark car, I'm sure there are no issues, but for the lighter colored ones....

Thanks for the kind words, Rob! We've had a system on an Alpine White car since last winter with no problems, so I'm sure there won't be any additional wear on the rear bumper.

I was ready to buy the Bastuck (quads for an E90) today to accompany a Kerscher rear but I got cold feet when I learned if was only an axel back system. For $1467.45 that seems a bit steep. It might sound good but I cannot believe you save that much weight or increase HP. I was pretty set on the Bastuck but now?????????????????

Please tell me I'm wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong but most systems out there are just for the rear muffler only unless you pay additional for the midpipe/sr pipe ($~600) which totals out to be about ~$2200ish for a whole complete catback system. So for around $1400, I think the price isn't too much.

The tips have a thick double wall. There not even that hot after a long drive.

Remember systems like the Bastuck and Eisenmann are handmade in Germany the labor rate and Euro play a major role in the cost of the mufflers. Nice quailty cost money and I wanted the best. The Eisenmann Quad mufflers are almost $2000! That's way more than the Bastuck.

Just changing the muffler added 7hp and like 15tq according to the email I received from bastuck. There is no darkening around the lower bumper, dont worry about that. It sounds amazing and for $600 more you can add the pipes and have an awesome exhaust system.

I've had mine for almost 2000 miles by the way.

midpipes aren't available yet here in America. I might do the custom pipe setup, I'm assuming I'll get a little more gain than 7hp?

Well the 7hp is just the exhaust itself. With piping I'm guessing it should be around 25whp.

Oh and Bastuck is NOT planning on making midpipes, I called them. Getting the piping from Industry or Eisenhaus will work.

I've got a 120 miles on my Bastuck and there is definitely an increase in torque. I need procede and downpipes now
