Help!!! Gear Selector Error/Transmission??

I pulled into a parking spot, turned the engine off and the key was stuck. after moving the gear knob up and back a few times from p to d i was able to turn the car off and get the key out. Upon reentering the car I get this error, shown below, and the gear box is locked. If i push the gear knob forward the light next to P comes on and i can shift down to Drive and drive the car. However when I get turn the car off its the same thing and the key is stuck unless i push the gear knob up Seems like the Parking Sensor is loose? any insight is appreciated

Car drives and shifts perfectly on the way home just putting it in park and turning it on the car doesn't realize its in park.

Wow never seen that one before. Are you xdrive? I would take that in ASAP.

I've read in the n54 section that some guys were having AT shifting issues or switching from sport to D etc.... Turned out it was wires that rubbed through or something got loose in the shift assembly?? You should do a search in that section and take your car in anyway

Looks like you've wrapped your interior cf. Maybe take out the center piece and make sure your wires are in correctly? If it is, then take it to the dealer....

seems like the "park" sensor is loose. I have to push the gear shift up a little to bring it down and to take the key out. Should i bring it in to the dealer with bms on and downpipe?

Turned out to be the brain inside the transmission. At least that's what bmw told me. It was an arm and a leg and then some to fix haha so I never fixed it. I just jammed the override button so I can shift. Dealer said no harm to car. Good luck fixing yours.
