OEM interior mods! Aluminum trim, sport steering wheel install, PC e-brake!

Hello E90post,

I bought my Montego/Black 6MT sedan a few months ago and have been enjoying every minute of it. However, it came with Dark Burl Walnut trim, which I've never been a fan of, and the car is not equipped with Sport Package. So I set out to change that.

Here's a shot of the bone-stock interior:

First, I bought an OEM Sport Steering wheel with thumb tabs, and the trim, airbag and buttons to match and threw that on. I decided against the M Sport wheel because I'm not a fan of the perforations.

Here's a daytime shot. Also, I bought an OEM Pearlscent Chrome e-brake handle to match the shift knob and threw that on.

Now, to do something about that wood trim. I've always been a fan of the oem Brushed Aluminum trim. CF vinyl wrap looks nice too, but not my cup of tea. Following Mr. 5's DIY guide, I had everything out easily. As stated in the guide, I recommend buying a set of automotive trim removal tools to make the process easier, and to prevent scratches/scuffs on your interior. I found a plastic set for $6 at Harbor Freight. Now for the end result:

And that's it for now! A big thanks to everyone on the forum I've bought parts from. I still have more stuff (suspension, wheels, tires, etc) sitting in my garage ready to go on, but that's another story…

Consequently, I now have a bunch of extra parts. Stay tuned for a FS thread in the near future, whenever I get around to it.

Thanks for reading! Comments/constructive criticism welcome!

Looks great. Have you thought about grabbing a set of aluminium pedals?

So the trim, is it replacement trim or vinyl? Couldnt really tell from what you said. I think this is the route i will go. Might try the exterior color too, not sure...

Thanks! Oops, I accidentally linked to the wrong DIY. Here is the correct one. Original post updated as well. Installing the trim was VERY easy. I was actually surprised how easily the door pieces and center console came out. Removing the vents on the dash pieces was slightly difficult, but not bad at all. I purchased the trim used from another member on the boards. You could buy everything new from the dealer (or Tischer, Pelican Parts, etc), but you would pay a lot more.

Thanks! Definitely looking for a nice set of pedals now. Thinking of going with ACS or something similar-looking, most likely replica though.

What he said, the trim is OEM.

Yeah, pedals are definitely on the list. Not really feeling the Performance shifter though. Truth be told, I like the original shifter so much I wanted the rest of my interior to match it, lol.

Nice minor upgrades, the e-brake lever does look nice with the Pearlscent Chrome trim. Is the color and shade of the e-brake lever similar to the stock gear lever? Overall nice additions to liven the interior up!

Interior looks way more sporty with the brushed aluminum trim. Nice job!
I just find it a little strange that a 3 series BMW with 6 speed manual transmission doesn't have the sports package. They should go hand in hand IMO.

Thanks! The e-brake lever is a SLIGHTLY different shade of silver than the shifter, less reflective and lighter in color. Not noticeable unless you really stare at them.

Agreed, Sport Seats will be the last piece of the puzzle for the interior, then I can move on to changing up the exterior... then again 60/40 folding rear seats would be vay naice
