320i 6MT - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I love a MT as much as the next driver, but wife wants SUV or an auto if I keep continue to drive BMW. We recently had to do Melbourne and back in my wife's Lancer which wasn't pleasant. CVT sucks.

What to do?

Tranny swap?

Car swap?

$70k for a new F30 is tempting but crazy from a financial POV.

Ideas?

I may have missed this earlier... but what car do you currently have? 320i in AT I assume..?

I have a 6MT now.

Tranny swap would not make any sense financially either.

Car swap... Get an auto 335i or 325i at least.

You can get reasonably priced E90 335i sedans if buying used. If you want to stay with the BMW brand that might a good option. You have to buy carefully though because the engine and transmission can potentially cost a lot in maintenance.

On the other hand if you are looking at the financial POV, then I think its probably going to work out better if you get a Japanese sedan such as a new Mazda 6, or maybe a used Lexus.
