► APEX | 18" ARC-8 Track Wheels - 2015 Group Buy

** 18" ARC-8 Group Buy is now CLOSED. **

At last, the Group Buy you’ve all been waiting for! After numerous requests from forum members over the past year, we are now hosting a Group Buy for the 18” ARC-8 wheels. Last year we reached 154 participants, which was well over the level required to reach the maximum discount. All participants received the maximum discount. Let’s do it again!

We wanted to support a larger part of the BMW community so there are fitments for the E36, E36 M3, E46, E46 M3, Z3, Z4, E82 1M, E9X, E9X M3, and F3X. The Group Buy will be listed on multiple forums where we will be monitoring and updating all Group Buy threads: M3Forums, Bimmerforums, E46Fanatics, E90post, F30post, M3post, and Zpost, E89 Zpost. Spread the word, because the more members that sign up, the lower the price will be for everyone!

Important Dates:

Official Close Date & Last Day to Pay: Closed
Product Ship Date: Starts 2/12/15

There is no minimum member requirement to receive the 1st tier discount of Free Shipping!

01-20 sets = Tier 1
21-40 sets = Tier 2
41-60 sets = Tier 3
61-80 sets = Tier 4
81-100 sets = Tier 5
101- ∞ sets = Tier 6

Sizes and Colors Available:

  • No other sizes or combinations are available for this group buy.
  • All finishes are available: Anthracite, Hyper Black, Hyper Silver, and Satin Black.

Group Buy Details:

Free Shipping*
  • Free Shipping is available to members in the 48 mainland US states. Alaska, Hawaii, APO/FPO, and International members will receive a $75 credit off the actual cost of shipping.
  • Non-mainland, APO/APE/FPO please contact us prior to ordering for a shipping quote.
  • Free shipping applies to products in this group buy only, and does not cover over items purchased unless individually specified. Adding others parts to your order may result in a shipping fee. Non Group Buy parts will ship with your wheel order unless requested in the comment field at checkout.

Local Pickup Discount:
  • Local customers who pick up their set will receive a $35 discount on their order in lieu of free shipping. Local pickup discounts are provided at time of pickup as a refund, and are not provided in advance. You MUST write "local pickup" in the comment field at checkout so that we do not ship your order. We will call you when your set is ready to schedule a pickup from our Livermore 94550 warehouse.

When do these ship?:

CURRENT ETA: Orders will begin shipping out on February 12th, 2015 with almost all orders shipped by middle of March.
  • This is a Group Buy. Wheels do not ship the day after making payment like a traditional order.
  • Due to the high volume extra time will be needed to process orders.
  • Wheel orders should ship in the order that they were received.
  • We cannot guarantee an exact ETA date. Our estimates have historically been conservative and within +/- two weeks of our ETA date.
  • Because this Group Buy offers free shipping, we cannot provide expedited shipping in the event of a delay. Minor delays may occur, please allow for extra order processing time.
  • We will keep everyone up to date of even minor changes if they occur via this thread.
  • Tracking numbers will be provided to all buyers, and important progress updates will be posted on this forum, and on corresponding product pages.

Availability
  • Some sizes and finishes will sell out.
  • Availability is limited to supply on hand.
  • Orders will be fulfilled on a first-paid-first-fulfilled basis
  • Back orders may be accepted on a case by case basis. Customers will be notified and they can cancel their order if product is backordered or sold out.
  • No rain-checks. This discount is available for participants of this group buy.
  • We will try to stay up to date with sold out finishes/sizes by posting them here and on the forums, as well as on the website.
  • Within 48 hours of placing an order request, we will contact you if the wheels you have requested have been sold out. You will have the option to change to a different finish or fitment if you’d like, or you may cancel your order.

How do I join? Payments and Sign-up info
  • The Group Buy is now closed
  • Buyers are not officially part of the Group Buy until they've paid
  • Credit cards will be authorized only for the price listed at sign-up. Cards will be charge the final price after the close of the Group Buy and the member count is totaled. This automatically insures that everyone is billed for the lowest price, regardless of when they joined.
  • The Group Buy Dashboard will contain a list of members as they join. It is updated as they sign up within 24 hours and does not accurately represent the exact number of members at any given time.
  • If Aftermarket Performance Express Corp. elects to cancel the group buy due to low order volume or a production issue, ALL customers will be provided full refunds if their payment was already processed by either us or the dealer the order was place through.

Discount Tiers:

  • At the time of paying for your order, you will be authorized (similar to a deposit) for the full price of the product.
  • At the close of the Group Buy, we will total all participants to determine the final price charged.
  • Everyone's order/payment will be adjusted according to the highest discount tier reached
  • In the end, everyone pays the same low price.
  • There is zero advantage in signing up at the last minute.
  • Late sign-up only results in reduced participation momentum and the possibility of your desired finish or size being sold out.
  • Early sign-ups promote others to sign-up, and gives confidence to the stragglers. If you know you’re buying then pay early to keep the momentum going.

Refunds
  • There are NO refunds on Group Buy orders. Group Buys are special order, which is why payment is taken in advance
  • Only replacement of defective, or mis-shipped products are available.
  • Members cannot change colors or sizes after item receipt for Group Buy orders.
  • These products are priced at promotional pricing and do not carry that same return policy as our retail priced items. If you would like a traditional 30 Day return policy then we recommend purchasing at the retail price, and not via the Group Buy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wheel Details:
Manufacturing process:
All APEX wheels are flow-formed resulting in a lightweight, track and street worthy wheel. Flow-forming significantly reduces weight in the barrel by rolling the barrel out into it's final shape using large wheels/disks applying high pressure. This step is the same step that monoblock forged wheels go through to shape their barrels. By doing this, the flow-formed wheel's barrel has the same density and strength as the barrel of a fully forged wheel. This significantly reduces rotational mass at the furthest point from the center, which is the most important weight savings area on a wheel.
Strength:
These wheels are fully JWL/VIA certified. Strength testing was done by the VIA in Japan.
Misc.
  • Comes with either carbon-look APEX center caps or gloss black caps
  • Accepts OEM Roundel center caps
  • Does not come with valve stems
  • Installs using your factory lugs or a stud conversion.
  • BMW hub-centric - no centering rings
  • Accepts all wheel spacers including 5mm while still remaining hub-centric
  • TPMS compatible.
We've made great progress, and have already reached the third discount tier already. Let's get this Group Buy to the maximum discount tier.
Eddy, the President of the company, has replied to a similar inquiry on another forum with the following:
We've successfully hosted Group Buys dozens of times, and our last round of Group Buys had no difficulty reaching the maximum discount tier. Many members here can attest to participating in deals that exceeded the level needed to get the best deal.
Group Buys for other units requested in this thread are also dependent on their own production timing and availability. Although there is no current schedule for other deals, they will be posted when their timing is appropriate.
Manny_World your staggered entry has been removed from our feeler list, leaving only your squared set-up. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Hi All/David,
I have a 2009 (LCI) E91/Wagon that came with the sport package staggered 17 inch rim steup. I'd like to up-size to 18 inch rims using the Arc-8 but am unsure what size to order.
I would like to run a 18 inch square setup with profile 3 Arc-8's front and back with no rubbing issues, or a need to roll or cut fenders, or adjust my camber (i.e. direct fitment).
Which front and rear rims would you recommend, and what tire size should I be looking to purchase?
Do you also recommend a front or rear spacer to retain the staggered look or ensure OEM like handling?
Thanks in advance
We've reached the next discount tier, now making way towards the last tier for the Group Buy. Here is the current status of the Group Buy's Feeler list:
For an LCI E91, it would be difficult to fit a Profile 3 ARC-8 in the 18" diameter without needing to roll fenders or adjust your alignment settings. Due to the rear tract width of an LCI model for the E90/E91 being 8mm wider in the rear of the car, an 18x9.5" ET35 ARC-8 (Profile 3) would need a slight fender roll at the least when using a 255/35/18 sized tire. Some customers have been able to get away with not rolling the fenders at all with some tires, but that really depends on the tire's make and model, so our recommendation is to have the fenders rolled in order to avoid any possibility of rubbing. A 265/35/18 tire would need an even heavier fender roll, possibly a pull depending on what tire make and model you decide on. The front of the E9x is limited to a 9" wheel in stock form, which we do not offer a Profile 3 wheel in that width for the ARC-8 model. In order to fit the same 18x9.5" ET35 ARC-8 (Profile 3) wheel on the front of the E91 for a squared setup with a 255/35/18 tire, one would need a 5mm spacer to clear the front struts of the car, and to dial in at least -2.5 degrees of camber to clear the front fenders, which requires camber plates.
The recommended fitment for a stock LCI E9X car would be the 18x8.5" ET38 and 18x9.5" ET35 staggered fitment, which would have a Profile 1 front and Profile 3 rear, to be used with 235/40/18 and 255/35/18 sized street tires. Spacers are not required for this fitment, but we have had customers who add spacers to the front wheels to make the wheels and tires more flush to the fender purely for cosmetics. The spacer size would be dependent on which particular tire make and model you decide on, as well as ride height and alignment settings. Because of we'd recommend purchasing spacers after measuring the clearance between the outer edge of the tire and inner edge of the fender after the wheels and tires have been mounted onto the car to know which spacer size one would want to install. Feel free to contact us via phone, PM, or email with any further questions.
Thanks David,
So just to confirm, even with "The recommended fitment for a stock LCI E9X car would be the 18x8.5" ET38 and 18x9.5" ET35 staggered fitment, which would have a Profile 1 front and Profile 3 rear, to be used with 235/40/18 and 255/35/18 sized street tires." I would still need to roll my rear fenders slightly to avoid rubbing?
If this is true, is there a rear 18" Arc-8 rim you would recommend that would not required any fending rolling?
Vut
Vut
Vut, that is correct. Even with the 255/35/18 tire size, some tires can fit without rubbing, while others may, so we recommend everyone to roll their fenders in order to completely minimize the possibility. There is the 18x9" ET42 rear wheel option that would be a direct fit and not require any fender rolling. This is a Profile 1 wheel, which is why many customers are willing to do a slight fender roll on the rear (though there are some street tires out there that are just narrow enough to get away without any rolling) but be able to have the deep concave Profile 3 rear wheel.
I'm looking to order but no sure what offsets I want. I currently have the Alufelgen SF-71 19" et35 on my E90 LCI xDrive but want something stronger and the Arc-8 looks really good.
What offset would you recommend for something really concave. Is possible to run 18x9 in the fronts? I was thinking of getting 18x9.5 ET22 for the rears or 18x10
The recommended fitment on an E90 LCI would be the 18x8.5" ET38 (Profile 1) and 18x9.5" ET35 (Profile 3) ARC-8's with a 235/40/18 and 255/35/18 street tire. Some tires with a larger sidewall may rub under full compression of the rear suspension with this setup, but can be quickly alleviated with a fender roll in the rear. If you are not looking to roll the rear fenders, the 18x9" ET42 (Profile 1) would be the alternative rear fitment with the same tire size. The 18x9" ET42 can be used on the front of the car, but may require a spacer to clear your front struts, depending on your tire make, model, and size. As for using the 18x9.5" ET22 or 18x10" ET25 on the rear of the car, you would need to heavily roll and modify your rear fenders in addition to adding a lot of negative camber to create the extra clearance needed to make it work.
Unfortunately, the 1-series ARC-8's are not a part of this 18" ARC-8 Group Buy as we have very limited stock on those fitments.
I wanted to include a couple clarifications for some questions other members still had.
Don’t worry about Online Backorders:
When joining our Group Buy, you may find that some wheels are listed as “Backordered” on our site. That’s a live feed of in-stock product and doesn’t show what products will be arriving soon. With the volume of units sold via a Group Buy, most everything is likely to display as “Backordered” eventually. Since Group Buy orders begin shipping only after the close date, our incoming shipments will allow us to fulfill even more orders. Many wheels are in stock and will ship within a few days of the Group Buy ending, but if your wheels are on one of the many incoming shipments, we will contact you with an ETA within one business day of joining. You’ll have the option to cancel if you don’t want to wait for your wheels to arrive.
Don’t wait for your goal to be reached before joining:
If your goal is to purchase only if you can be sure you’ll get a deep discount, then you’ll appreciate the new format of our Group Buys. Instead of waiting, you can now place your order with no risk of paying more than you want. Each discount tier has it’s own coupon code. Checkout now using one of those codes to commit your order to the highest price you’d be willing to pay. If we reach an even better discount tier, your order will be adjusted, and you’ll be charged less. If we don’t reach your discount, we’ll simply cancel your order. There is no need to wait and see what happens. You can lock in your savings now.
