330I full bolt on rwhp??

hi guys,

I am buying a e90 330 or e90 325/328 and doing the 3 stage manifold so it will pretty much be a 330 minus the brakes and other stuff.

Anyway, ive searched for max bolt on numbers, dyno's, etc etc but have not found anything close to 240rwhp, 220rwtq, which is my goal.

What would a full bolt on n52 do.... and when i say full bolt on i mean:

bms pwr box or AA tune
BMW PE + 2nd cat delete
charcol delete + kn filter
DIY scoups
3 stage manifold (if i dont get a 330)

I know most guys would also put headers in on a max bolt on car but few guys actually have them, they are real pricey, and would end up being my last mod.

with the stuff listed do you think il be close?? I am buying a car this wkend hopefully, theres 2 325's priced well and 1 330.

You should be able to hit the 240 rwhp with all that and 3 Stage Manifold, Intake and Exhaust. With the Headers and a good Tune I can't see you not hitting 240 rwhp.

bms pwr box or AA tune - AA Tune will give you the best

BMW PE + 2nd cat delete - BMW PE Is a waste of money unless you want sound. I would go Magnaflow with Secondary Cats Delete. You will save the weight compared to the Performance Exhaust and spend only $100 on the muffler. The money you save from the Performance Exhaust you can get headers.

charcol delete + kn filter - I have the Performance Intake, I would of did this mod instead if i could do it over again.

DIY scoups - On $40 and in my options when you going 50 mph is helps.

3 stage manifold (if i dont get a 330) - I would do this for sure if you get the 328i very worth the money.

The only other bolt on mod is Nitrous which you can run a 35 shot or 50 shot. Someone on the forums for running 75 shot without a problem. But 35-50 I think is enough and its around $400 for the kit from Nitrous Express.

I have a 328 with all those mods you listed (minus header). After all it's still a slow car. Save another 3 to 4k and get the 335.

well i wouldnt get the PE, i have a buddy whose a mechanic. His shop would delete my 2nd cat, put in a magnaflow muffer and maybe larger diameter tubing. most likely the muffer + cat delete.

I would get a 335 but the 07/08's have too many ele. problems, and other stupid sh!t that costs gobs of money. twins failing, fuel pump (i know its covered til 120k but still)

I figure to maintain a n52 will cost 1500-2k a yr. the n54 would be 2500-3500, which is just too much.

I plan to buy the n52 car now, play with it for 2-3yrs and than get a 335. Once i can afford a 2011 +, by than il have more money and they will come down in cost.

and yes, i would get the AA tune. there is a shop actually down the road from my office that tunes german cars.

my buddy has a 330i, (auto too) and has a dinan cold air intake on it. The car is pretty quick, for what it is.

Im coming from an american v8 so pretty much anything aside a modded 335 will be slow for me.

On Dynojet with SAE correction, u should able to get 220-225 whp, for wheel 240hp/220tq you really need get rid of main cat.

dont get piggyback device, get a real tune.

also scoop not gonna help u on dyno too.

here is an interesting dyno, maybe someone can research and find out the difference on those Z4 3.0 si, its making 232whp stock, highest i've seen for any N52 dyno.

well this will be my DD, so no cats isnt something that i can do. I may do MWM headers with hi flow cats but that would be the last thing i do.

There is no way to tell 100%. Each car and dyno is different. However, full bolt on without cat removal generally wont net you 240 rwhp.

I should add...Getting a manual transmission will greatly increase the powertrain efficiency. You will have better luck hitting your goal if the car you get is a manual.

Getting such high whp # without touching the main cat is probably only attainable with a really great tune(European ones only) and changing the gearing in the Transmission or LSD or smth similar.

This is about 2.5k in cost and hassle(shipping the insured ecu to Europe) and at that point you have to ask what is your goal with the car(show, raw performance, etc)
That is alot of money that gets you wheels, suspension and lips/bodykits.

What ever you do realize that its only a 330i or 328i and outside this forum no one will care if u spent 3k extra to make the car unique.

I will hopefully be able to dyno soon. I'm hoping that with everything I will dyno over 240rwhp. But we will see, my baseline was around 183 or so.

If possible get 330i, it has very nice ZF transmission, great features and is very reliable. I think it is the best value.

The first two mods you should consider are lighter wheels + tires (i.e. Apex + PSS) and LSD (Wavetrac is affordable). After this CAI and AA tune (and three stage manifold if you get 325).

Try to decrease weight with every mod, that will improve handling and performance and don't rush with mods... unless you have $$$$ to burn

GL!

3 stage mani ($500, getting parts from yards, online, ebay, craiglistetc)
aa tune $500 (or something used from this site)
charcol delete + k/n filter $60
delete 2nd cat, $75
scoups $50

than finding a set of used 19's $800-1200

yes the car is aggressive from 0-60 but from 60+, it's not pulling that hard.
