comfort access one touch unlock not working

Searched quite a bit and can't seemed to find anything. Car is a 2009 335xi e92 AT with comfort access, idrive, logic 7, cold weather package. Here are the symptoms:

CA one touch on the door handle will not unlock. No parking light flash but there is a faint clicking noise like it is trying to do something but can't. Pressing the button on the fob will unlock no problems. So the unlock actuator is working. CA one touch to lock works, lights flash everything OK. Car starts and drives normally without the fob needing to be in the slot.

Batteries in the fobs are new, and like I said pressing the fob unlocks just fine. Car battery itself is charged up and no low battery warning.

Fuse 57 is good, car does not have a fuse 56.

I am stumped, any help here appreciated.

Not having the one touch unlock is no big deal but if this is first in the chain of something larger to fail that is a big deal. Winter just came on big here in the high rockies and some random electrical failure out in the middle of nowhere would be bad.
