German number plates

Hi all
What are the rules when it comes to mounting a front number plate in Germany? I'm living here temporarily and I want to get rid of the front number plate or at least have small one.
Thanks in advance

Hey!
Depends on what city you´re living in. You may be lucky enough to get a number plate with around 5 or 6 signs. Then it´s possible to have a short plate, around 35cm.
So, where are you living?
