BIMMERPOST NEWSBMW i4 Concept Rumored to Debut Soon ![]() A rumor comes from French magazine L’Automobile claiming that a BMW i4 Concept will be shown at the Los Angeles auto show in late November. Details are scant so far, but resident BMW insider Scott26 previously alluded to both the upcoming i4 and i5 last year. The BMW i4 is said to be based off the i3 but will be a two seater i8-like sports car - a more affordable i8 for the masses, if you will. If true, the i4 would surely utilize the same carbon fiber construction and hybrid drivetrain as the i3. The i3 will be powered by a newly developed powertrain consisting of a 134 horsepower electric motor running on lithium-ion batteries and driving the rear axle. The prototype presented at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show had a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is expected to deliver between 130 to 160 km (80 to 100 miles) and the battery will take about four hours to fully charge from the 240-volt charging unit. The i3 is expected to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in less than 8 seconds and 0 to 60 km/h in less than 4 seconds. Share this story |

Am I the only one who thinks the forthcoming BMW i cars are a bit blah? Sustainability and fuel efficiency are great, but none of the PHEV's and BEV's I've seen do anything to stir the soul.
Also, those huge batteries aren't exactly eco-friendly.

"RUMORED" to debut "SOON"??? Zzzzzzzzz
boring. Are they STILL talking about these i series? By the time this launches, cars will be flying. BMW are really slow to this market... They should spend less time building concept cars and execute something already. Build a super car already and stop trying to build for the masses, your too slow Bavaria!

No, whats really dropped off the radar is the 2 series coupe. Earlier this year I am pretty sure Scott26 said we would see prototypes late this summer last time I checked none had been spotted.

isn't the 2 series coupe just the 1 series re-badge, I got to think that it will be the new m135i front end mated with the ass end of the 1 series with a little re-design. I dont think a prototype is needed IMO.
