Sticky/ Tree Sap - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I noticed on my back bumper what looked to be tree sap or something stickey. I can't get if off with just a regular wash i can scrap it with my finger nail but it leaves scratches on the bumper. Any idea how to remove it safely?

Hmm, I've used a gentle hand cleanser like Purell with a nice soft towel, that usually does the trick without harming the clear coat or paint. If its gentle enough for your skin, it's gentle enough for the car. The only off the shelf product I'd trust to not harm the paint would be Stoner products.

Try CarPro Tar-X. This worked well for me in the past. Spray it on and let it dwell for a minute then rinse off with a pressure washer.

To aid the process....Clay the area and knock it down a bit prior.

Rubbing alcohol, clay, then re-apply some wax/sealant around that area

Rubbing alcohol works best that's what I used when I worked at a detail shop

Yeah. Had to leave my car out of the garage for a few days because the boat was in the driveway and finally found the storage keys to put it away. Had sap on my windshield and just tried to pull off as much as possible by grabbing it with a paper towel. Pulled out the clay and even that wouldn't take it all off. Alcohol took the rest off like it was nothing. All I had to do was wipe. I have heard OFF Deep Woods works just as well too.

alcohol is cheaper and easier to find, never used bug repellant lol.
