Upon starting car - what rpm does your engine idle at (non cold-start)
I've noticed my idle rpm's dropping to about 600 rpm's when I first start my car. No problems driving it. I've had the car for about 2 months and started to notice the lower idling roughly about a month ago - it usually starts around 1000 rpms and gradually drops over the 30 seconds to 1 minute. The low idling is accompanied by a little vibration/rumbling.
If this is normal, then I apologize about the shitty post - but I didn't find anything that was this specific in any of my searchesz. This is my first 335. '07 with 49k miles currently. |

If it's rough you could need your valves cleaned too, honestly if you read about all the issues on the forums you start to go crazy, my advice to u is drive the car, have fun and if it throws a code or has a real issue you will know..lol

Thats how mine is too. Idle starts (cold) around 1.1k and then after 30 seconds can drops to around 500-700 RPM

I punched it in M1 from a stop light and the Yellow Engine Caution light popped on, has not come back on since - except for when I tried to full throttle it from a stop light almost a week later. But again, no problems once the car is turned on the next time.
I was hoping the "low" idle in my mind and "vibrations" were not due to that by some chance. I know, it's an AT |

Yeah, I think everything is fine with my car. I just wanted to catch something early on I spose if it were the case.
Anyone know anything about the yellow caution engine light? I basically just drive the car modestly for the rest of the trip and then poof the light is gone once the car is started back up. I would do further research by testing scenarios but that would defeat the purpose of maintaing. Do I have to check for error codes or will they pop up automatically? Do I need to hold down the odo-trip button or something to check it out ? |

I've had the SES light and the car go into a strange limp vibrating mode before while trying an extremely hard acceleration. Honestly I've done some hard runs before and it doesn't show up, so whether there's a fuel issue with my car is hard to tell as well. If it starts happening on a regular basis I might get worried, but till then I just chalk it up to "limp mode shenanigans".

650 here. BTW, the ECU has different idle modes depending on whether the engine is warm, whether the injectors have reached normal heat range, whether the O2 sensors have heated up and whether the AC is on. Of course, any combination of all those factors also affect the rpms at which the ECU chooses to idle the engine.
