Paddle shifter retrofit - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Have a couple of questions as I am going to do this retrofit.
1. Do cars that come equipped with paddle shifters us the same wiring and harnesses as all the wiring harnesses that are being sold to use in the retrofit?(ie 2 pins in clock spring)
2.I have read many threads and believe my paddles will not work in d just ds because my car is a 10/06 build even though it came with the sport package. Is this true and if so can i fix this by buying a new junction box and/or program it?
