335xi or Evo X MR more similar to e9X M3?

So a month or so ago I posted a thread on here that I couldn't decide between an 07-08' 335xi or a 08-10' Evo X MR. Well, I still haven't made up my mind and I wanted to get some opinions if you guys think an Evo X MR is more similar to an e9X M3 than a 335xi is. Reason I ask this is because I just sold my 2011 e90 M3 and the things I enjoyed most about the car were the DCT, engine noise, racing seats, and overall just badass factor that the M3 brought to the table and almost all those same factors come with the Evo MR. Now don't get me wrong, the 335xi is an awesome car. I owned one before my M3 and loved it but I just feel like even if I buy one with the sports package, I am going to have to spend a lot on mods(tune, exhaust, downpipe, rims, spoiler, etc.) to get the car to the point where I want it to be, thinking $5-6k at least. That said, what do you think I should do? Also, from my point of view, below I have listed my personal pros and cons for each car.

07-08' 335xi
Pros: Luxury and status factor, smoother ride, a little better gas mileage, cheaper insurance

Cons: Cost of maintenance, high cost of extended warranty, mods are more expensive and much more necessary in my case, not as exciting as Evo X

08-10' Evo X MR
Pros: Better handling, DCT tranny, racing seats, cheaper to mod and maintain

Cons: Cheaper build quality, more expensive insurance, possible fast and furious, boy racer factor(I'm 24 though and this aspect doesn't bother me that much. Evo X looks a lot less ricey than STI or previous Evo IX IMO)

P.S. Please don't post countless posts asking why I sold my M3. I am driving more for work now and in all conditions(snow & ice) and I needed something I could rack up more miles on, plus someone made me a great offer on my M3 that I couldn't pass up.

Daily/Both. I drive anywhere from 100-400 miles a week for work.

The Evo is fun to drive but not on long road trips...

The evo doesn't do very well with highway mpg. The difference between 100 and 400 miles a week is a huge difference! Make up your mind lol
I have a negative impression of xdrive, so i'm biased to suggest the evo. If you stiffen up the ride on the 335xi, I think it would make a more pleasurable daily driver.
Sports package is a must for the steering wheel and seats -- the interior makes a big impression on the way you feel about your car.

You've driven M3's and evo's and you have a gripe about spending money on a $20k 335i to modify it? Is this post serious?

I'm sure you'll have to maintain the m3 and the evo just as much as the 335i. You have warranty on the turbos and wastegate until 80/120.

Extended warranty for 7 years to 100k is generally $4k+

What I would do is get the 335xi and put some good looking 18s, lower it with a not back breaking suspension, bmw pe, and call it a day. Unless you got lots of money to throw around.

You cant claim better millage if you are planing on dp/tune/exhaust.
100-400 miles a week is a lot.

OMG. The AWD system in the 3 series is not for performance. Want AWD performance? Buy an Audi S4, Evo, or WRX. AWD is for people that need to be somewhere when the snowplow truck drivers are protesting for dental care.

My M3 was brand new and had the new BMW warranty and my 335xi had a warranty too so it was just tires, brake pads, and wiper blades for me. Evo's aren't cheap to maintain but definitely less than a BMW is. I know because I have looked at maintenance costs plus any warranty for the Evo X is half the cost of a 335xi. A 2yr/24k mile powertrain warranty through BMW is about $2400 and thats at cost(know a Finance Manager at a BMW dealership) and I can get a bumper to bumper, 4yr/48k mile warranty for the Evo through USAA for $2450.

Tires, brake pads and oil changes are maintenance items. If that cost worries you then get a cheaper car man.

Your finance hookup for just the powertrain isn't really hooking you up. A powertrain warranty covers minor things. If he's quoting you $2400 for a 2yr/24k powertrain warranty then I got a steal on my 7yr/100k platinum at a few hundred more.

Well it's a powertrain gold warranty so it covers some extra stuff and its an additional 2 years regardless of the year of the vehicle. Your 7yr/100k warranty should be based not an additional 6 years/100k, but 6 years total and 100k miles total. Maintenance costs aren't a problem for me for either a 335xi or Evo X, I was just stating that the Evo X is cheaper to maintain.

All depends the style of driver you are... I think the rigid nature and lack of luxury in the EVO may annoy you after a while coming from a M3. Most guys I know didn't come from a BMW but a tuner/street background ie wrx, s2000. I'd go XI f handling is your only concern. My XI didn't require much maintenance but I also didn't drive it 100 - 400 miles.

One thing I have learned, if maintenance cost is an issue than a BMW may not be for you.
