Yes and no, to be on the safe side buy shocks but if your on a budget just go for springs, the oem shocks should hold up for awhile. If you wanna do it the right way the first time go coilovers.

yes you need new shocks.. your stock shocks are made to work with stock springs, not aftermarket ones. they will quickly wear out on lower aftermarket springs. if you;re going to lower, do it right the first time imo.
