Just tried to put the winter wheels on but my current jack is not compatible! Will the following do the job in lifting my e92?

buy a real floor jack. what do you mean your current jack isnt compatible?

I was thinking the same thing. Go invest in a low profile jack.

I was going to use the jack from my other car. tbh I dont want some fancy jack, just want to get these damn winter wheels on! lol

I'm going to go out and buy a standard basic jack and use a piece of wood or puck method.

The guys at BMW are greedy bastards, I paid for an msport package with lots of extra's and youd think they would throw in a friggin jack! I'm sure when I bought my previous e92 in the UK, it had a jack and all the tools (even though it has run flats).

It doesn't have to be fancy. Even a cheap autoparts store floor jack will be much better and safer than a cheap temporary scissor jack. It'll lift the car much much faster and easier than cranking a scissor jack all day.

I just picked up a jack, cross wrench and some engine oil for 25 quid! I'll let you all know how I get on

Common is it really that dangerous if used correctly? I'm not getting under the car or anything - its just a simple wheel change. I used a similar jack to change wheels on my previous car a couple of times and no issues.

Taking the following steps and you cant go wrong
-new jack
-flat ground
-unscrew wheel nuts before raising the car
-tighten wheel nuts once car back on the ground
-dont move the car around
-secure hand break and other wheels

The car will only be raised for around 1-2 mins each wheel. Many people use these jacks but you only ever hear the bad experiences were someone has decided to crawl under the car!

All x4 winter wheels on the car and no issues! I've changed wheels on many cars now with a scissor jack - its perfectly safe if used correctly
