So basically my car was boosting fine then all of the sudden no boost and half engine light, apparantly the rear turbo intake hose came off and a foreign object went in and messed up the compressor wheel and put it out of balance

Uh ohhhhhh.

Would that be a warranty issue with Vargas or with the mechanic who installed the turbos and the lines?

I think OP was the mechanic.

Hopefully its a quick fix, alot of people are anxious to see these turbos on the dyno.

That sounds like it has to go back to Vargas for some repairs. Get these bad-boys fixed and get on a dyno cause I wanna go with Vargas for my upgrade as well.

I installed them first on jack stands in my driveway but vargas reinstalled them properly but i guess its a common problem on rbs and he told me there was a bracket missing that holds the rear intake tube to the engine. So the engine was free to move basically. And yeah the car should be up and running today and possibly dyno'd tonight or tomorrow

I have had one customer (dzenno) have this happen a year or so ago on his RBs. Last week a newly installed set it seems suffered the same fate. If ANY turbo eats something, its game over. Sometimes it is carelessness, installation or platform learning curve, or just bad luck. Either way it's a real bum deal.

But least youll be back up and running quickly!

I'm sure the issue stems from install and how rough someone is with the intake tube pressing on the bracket. Can this bracket be removed (without too much trouble)with the various install options for turbos? Dropping the subframe probably no prob, but lifting the engine, maybe not.

You can reach your hand down from the top to check it.

"i guess it is a common problem on rbs" is misleading because there are dozens of rbs out there and the problem has nothing to do with rbs as turbo hardware. It looks like either you or Vargas removed the bracket or did not fasten it properly.

Nice that you'll get it running and dynoed so quickly.

Agree with jippii e, FOD (foreign object damage) will get any turbo.

Considering 120+ turbos (60+ sets) total RBs out there, the couple encountered to date is actually pretty good.

Sorry, i meant that the whole problem with the tube coming off is a problem experienced by multiple upgraded turbos, but i could be wrong. I guess its missing that bracket which is why this happened.

It moreso can be a very rare problem during any turbo swap, but I have only seen it happen a time or two.
