How to use Balanced Inputs?

Okay well i have had my E90 328i for a while now, and my god is it an upgrade from my 04 Honda Accord. But to the real point of this thread.

I am looking to do a custom install in the BMW. I have worked with many installs in the past even some using balanced inputs, but i remember just using the symbilink cables from the processor to the amp and voila. From what i have been reading on the forums it is alot more difficult to take the balanced inputs from the hifi head unit.

I see people talking about using Technic's harness and so on, but if i do i see it comes with RCA ends on it, and the amp does not even have RCA inputs. Amp in question is a Zapco DC650.6.

If someone can help me here i would be very thankful. Also if using an amp like a JL Audio XD which does have RCA level inputs how do i use those?

Just looking for some clarification on the topic.

Either Zapco or JL will work.

JL has and autodetect circuit for balanced inputs and I believe the Zapco's support this to. People have used both here and no extra stuff is needed.
A technic harness makes everything easy.

There are examples of installs using both kinds of amps you mentioned.

The OEM HU/iDrive outputs only 4 balanced channels. The DC650.6 can take 4 inputs and create 6-outputs with its DSP section.

Search for Zapco SLRCM.03 DIN to RCA cable. You will need (2) of those when used with a HiFi harness or you can use a SLDIN.Y splitter with (2) SLRCM.03 and create 6 inputs from 4 outputs.

thanks alot for the help technic, how much would a harness cost for my car. 2007 E90, hifi headunit. I am using 2 amps, one will have balanced inputs for the midranges but the monoblock would not.

For what it's worth, the DC650.6 can also drive all 6 channels of output from just one channel of input. Technic's harness (and customer service) is top notch.
