Removing Etchings - Need Advice
Take a Look, here's what I'm working with. Also some haze going on with these panels. Talked to a painter and he advised that this could be removed (etchings and haziness) with a 3000 grit wetsand and polish. He was very hesitant to do any paint work to correct the problem.

Try to polish it out with a DA first before sanding. What type of equipment do you have? Polishes??? Pads????

They look like water spot etchings; no need to wet sand (most likely) and definitely no need for respray. Use compound, then polish, then final polish.

I have experience using an orbital, but not a DA. How about the haze? Is this a job best left to a professional?

The haze can be polished out with a m205 and a finishing pad. That combo might even work on the water marks (with a DA). These are not an uncommon occurrence and can easily be handled by a novice with the right technique.

Thanks for the tips all. I'm going to head over to detailed image and get sorted with some products. Sounds like I can do this, rather than pay a professional, so I'll buy my own gear
I'll post pics of the process and results. |

I have finished the hood and fenders and the results are stunning. Pics to follow, but thanks for encouraging me to tackle this myself! Pads are now drying after being cleaned.
