Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 and the REST - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

So I've been a Dunlop WinterSport guy for three sets of "3D's". I'm shopping around for a set of 4D's and a few people at work said why don't you get a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7's. They claim it is the best WINTER tire out there. I've read the reviews and did a few searches here and haven't found much info.

Live in CT and do primarily all highway driving. I don't want to lose any performance and feel a studded tire will make my ride less appealing and rough. Currently have an 09' 335XI. CT winters can be a mix of everything and just got 10 + inches last week in early November. Though last year we had a record for 60+ degree days.

Thoughts?

Are you even allowed to run studded tires in the US?

Tires like this are really soft, That makes them excellent on snow and ice, but not good in wet/dry tarmac

I had a set of those tires (don't remember which model/non studded) on a EVO X, I usually run Blizzaks on all my vehicles. And they were just ok, I didnt feel as confident as I did with the Blizzaks when driving in snow or dry. I went through the same thing everyone bragging how good they were, I wasn't all that impressed. YMMV try them out, YOLO!

In CT we can run studded from Dec. to end of March, 4 months.

I have Hakka Rs and have been very impressed with them. That being said, they are the first brand-new snow tires I've owned, so it's hard to compare them to other sets I've run, which were already partially worn.

Im running hakk 7s and i love them, but up here it snows a lot! The noise from the tires is actually really good (not that loud).But honestly if theres not that much snow and ice where you are i would stick with the hakk r's and save the money. Either way nokian makes a really good winter tire you will be happy.
