Weird whistling noise coming from engine - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

When I step on the as I get a high pitch whistling noise that comes from the engine. I hear it better with the window down. I know it isn't wind because it is only when I am accelerating. No error codes, no performance issues. Just this weird noise. What could it be???

Turbos? Turbo bearings? It would be good to try to get a recording. I hear so many whistling sounds from my engine that I just assume are normal. Did it recently start?
