Lightbulb Anyone else noice this about BMW!

Any of you guy ever noticed that the 335i is priced kind of high compared to other used BMW. Like I was looking in my local auto sale magazine and i saw 06-11 3 series from 18-35k and then I saw the same year 5 and 6 series for 13-21k. What's the deal with that. It seems kind of backwards because if an 09 335i cost 31k and an 09 5 series cos 21kwhy would anyone (besides an enthusiast) buy the 3 series?

i noticed this with M cars, New the M5 and M6 have 20-40k on an M3 but a few years down the road they get somewhat close when you look at first year model m6's and m5's compared to M3's.

are the miles the same? are the options the same? are the 5series 528's and 530's? are they both CPO'd?

I'm UK based and if you look on autotrader and search under BMW

You see about 20,000 3 series and about 4000 5 series and less 6 series.

Same concept goes for M cars, you can pick up a 5.0L v10 m6 for £15,000 here and a m3 e92 will set you back no less than £20,000!

Contrast to this a e46 m3 you can get in tip top condition for £5000.

It's just the e9x is very desirable for the common BMW goer, I'm guessing its great looks, the n54 is a great engine and the 4.0L m3 block is amazing, IMO the 5 series and m5 is horrible looking, but then again I dislike sedans in general.

My 2 cents, *cough* pounds sorry!

I'm guessing its based on demand. The 3 series is BMWs most popular model

^THIS

E46 M3s are going from 10k to 25k usually. E36 m3s i've seen go from 3k-14k depending on condition/miles. E90s have held their value due to their more modern look and miles. E90s arn't that DIY compared to the older models. Some 335is are more than some brand new M3s i've seen.

Garage List
I wonder if it is because of the high maintenance cost of the 5 series compared to a lower maintenance cost of the 3

(OP HERE) the cars I've seen have the same options, and it always seems like the 5 series has less mile too. I've never looked at M cars prices but I imagine it would be the same.
