Spare Tire/Wheel?

Those of you that swapped out to better tires than the stock RFT's, what do you do in case of flats?

I'm trying to swap out all seasons on my stock 17's but need to pick up a spare wheel/tire in the process. Where should I go hunting for a single wheel? lol

AAA towing lol

You can use fix-a-flat if you plan on never using the tire again and getting it fixed ASAP. As convenient as it is, it's terribly bad on the inside if the wheels and destroys the tire.

The prices for a BMW space saver are ridiculous. Even ordering the components separately, but it was cheaper and I use a better jack. (Hydraulic).
I've got better things to spend money such as my kids!

I ordered:
  • Space saver rim from TomkinsonBMWParts.com for $69.86 shipped
  • A T135/80R-17 Continental CST 17 tire from TireRack for $135.44 shipped
  • A Torin Double Ram Bottle Jack 2-Ton, Model# TF0202 from Northern Hydraulic for $39.48 shipped

    You do the math.

The bottle jack has a 5-5/16 minimum lift. Its small and fits perfectly in the lift pads with a slight bit of modification. Much easier to lift the car with.

Paid $275 for my space saver kit from Tischer. Price seems to have gone up to over 300. I have a better jack in my garage for obvious reasons but this fits nice and snug in the trunk with tons of space.

Hey guys, do you think a motorcycle 140/70r17 tire will fit on the spare wheel?

I just went with the BMW Space Saver Spare through Bavarian Autosport, combined with the BMW OEM jack kit. Have used it twice, worked like a charm and no complaints.
