Inside N52 Water Pump
Early production e90, concern of overheating issue...ended up needing a new water pump. Was a slow day @ work, figured why not take it apart

Good job, You can obviously see the DC motor and its stator windings inside which look in great shape. I would suspect that given its a DC motor that the fets that drive the motor fail from heat due to high switching currents and high engine temps. I wanted to take one apart in a relatives car but realized the electronics are probably potted or coated so its a moot point.

Cool info. So I wonder if this proves that drivers that rev at high rmps the less life you will have with your water pump? Higher rpms the more heat leading to early failure... maybe?
