M3 mirrors on 335i Q?

I have searched a few threads and haven't come up with a definate answer.

I'm looking to retrofit a pair of m3 side mirrors on my 335i, and I have come across a set that the seller states is non folding...?

Looking on the tischer website there is a listing for m3 mirrors w/o folding and its an extra $100 per mirror for the w folding feature. http://www.trademotion.com/parts/200...agramCallOut=1

Is the difference being one doesn't have the mirror motot, can I just use my existing motors from my 335i mirrors to make the non folding m3 mirrors into folding types?

You can replace with or without folding. Th motors are part of the assembly and cannot be used between the different sets. There's a set for sale here in the Exterior parts by private seller section. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=760699 Don't worry that they are AW. The caps come off and can be painted any color you want.

The whole process and its ultimate price tag deemed it not worthwhile for me (over a G note, for housing, glass, motors, installation.)

The whole process It took me an hour to install mine.

Well worth it for me, I've gotten more compliments about them than any other mod.

Yeah I cant justify paying that either! I have come across a set that are used for about half that cost and well even at that price I'm hesitant but it does give the car a tougher look from front on

Ahh thanks, for some reason I thought I had read in a post somewhere you can swap the motors to make a non folding mirror a folding type...

Thanks for the link but no way am I paying that much for a set (a mate has a brand new set of oem cf mirrors for that price)

I bought a set of non motored m3 rep mirrors a while back, they were auto folding & heated but not adjustable from the drivers side console. I retrofitted my original mirrors oem motors to them but there isn't enough room for everything to go back in so the folding function is lost.
They came primed so I had to pay for paint & also was unable to sell on my oem mirrors because I had used the motors.
A few months on I sourced some used m3 mirrors from a car breakers and got some carbon mirror caps so I wouldn't have to pay for paint. I now have the folding function back and all things considered the costs are about the same.
Just check how many bolts your original mirrors have and make sure you buy the same style m3 mirrors, mine were 3 bolt but not all e9x are the same and some have more, depending on year of production I think.
